Stashing Items In Corvega Assembly Plant/Medford Memorial Hospital And NOT Finding Them
Hello F4 players,
I've run into some problems losing items in the Corvega Assembly Plant, and the Medford Memorial Hospital. In the Corvega Plant, I stashed all the junk Codsworth could carry in a cabinet to retrieve later. I thought I was going crazy as it took me forever to finally locate the cabinet and sure enough my load of junk was there to take home and scrap. However, I stashed about 7-8 pipe pistols and rifles on a dead female raiders body, and after scouring the interior of the Corvega Plant I just can not find the body or the weapons. All the bodies are looted and in their underwear. Perhaps I put them on a raider that is in a locations of the plant that I haven't been able to find, but I don't think it is likely. To make things even worse, there is a location in the Plant where some 5.56 mm machine gun turrets were placed and I believe this is the place where I stashed the guns on the raider's body. And I haven't been able to find any permanents of the gun turrets, leading me to believe I have just missed the body stash completely. But, I have spent over an hour wandering through the Plant clearing out junk and have killed every raider on the interior and exterior. I even found the bobble head high atop the plant's roof structure. My Pipboy says that the area is cleared because I obviously killed Jacob or whatever who is the lead raider. My question is if you store guns on the ground or on a body in a location like this does the game make them disappear? I know for a fact that items stashed in a container remain indefinitely.
Second conundrum: When I cleared out the Medford Memorial Hospital, I dropped about 6 pipe pistols/rifles on the landing of the stairs in between the first and second floor as my companion and I were completely packed full of loot. Well, I returned to the damn hospital and sure enough the pipe weapons were nowhere to be found even though the area was marked “cleared” on the pip boy, and I searched thoroughly. So can someone explain to my why weapons disappear off of dead bodies and even just off the ground in areas that are not settlements. I say settlements because I have a collection of handguns and pipe weapons on shelves, frag mines stacked on a chest, a chest of grenades, two miniguns, and even a fat boy leaning up against the wall in my personal armory in Sanctuary. These weapons never seem to disappear, along with the plates with food, cans of food, bottles of whiskey, pillows on beads, and other items placed in the house. Why do weapons seem to vanish when left in a dungeon type area in the wasteland.
I waited a whole year to play this game so I could buy it for $15.59 U.S. And not have to play a buggy new release version. I've played every Fallout game for PC, and Wasteland 2 (Which was almost as good as Fallout 2, better in some ways), i even played the awful “Fallout Tactics,” and I've never had a problem with items disappearing from any non random location. (Except for those damn thieving kids in the den) Can someone please help or offer their insight?

It's not a bug, the Cells in the game reset and so your stash (and dead bodies) disappear. You're better off storing things in chests or crates or any storage device in Settlements - but not the Workbench because enemies can takes guns from the Workbenches if you get raided.

Not entirely true. It is true that some cells reset after a certain time, but not all locations in the game are subject to the cell reset functionality. Settlements are examples of cells that do not reset (unless you experience the cell reset bug).

@OP, Corvega Assembly Plant and Medford Memorial Hospital are locations that respawn, and it means ANYTHING you have stored in a container or body inside, or in the surroundings, of these locations are permanently gone.

Settlement containers (or player placed containers) are the only safe storage options in the game, even bodies in settlements are set to disappear when you fast travel.

Thanks guys, I didn't expect a response this quick. As expected, right after posting I went to the Medford Memorial Hospital and turned down a corner and Boom! there were my 8 extra pipe pistols and rifles. As for the raider corpse that I stashed weapons on in the Corvega Plant, still no luck though. Thanks for the help though. I'm guessing the raider corpse and the guns on her body in the Corvega Plant are long gone after this many saves and fast travels.

The only safe place to store you loot is in containers that you construct or in the workbench or crafting benches in owned settlements. If you leave items on the ground, put in a container or store on a dead body, chances are high they won't be there by the time you go back. I don't know what the actual reset time frame is, but if you really want the stuff you've collected and your companion is already full, you'll just have to slowly walk to your nearest settlement. In most cases I now completely clear an area (like Corvega) of hostiles, then go back and loot everything I can pick up. My characters ususally have low strength (3-5), so I can get overloaded quickly. Creating pocket armor mods for each piece of armor helps, but I still have times where I have to walk to a settlement. Try to avoid major fights (as you can't run) until you have unloaded.

I've found that the workbenches in DC and Goodneighbor are safe to store things. I stored parts to repair my PA in both places (the PA stations and weapons benches) and they remained for over 3 in game weeks.

If you don't want to take a chance on loosing anything, use the workbench or a self built container in a settlement with 0 settlers and 0 resourses. I have seen other threads here with people talking about settlers taking better weapons out of hte workbench or containers when the settlement has come under attack. I have about 700 hours in between PC and PS4 and have never noticed it happening myself however.

There's only ONE place in the game where your stuff will be 100% safe, and that place is HOME PLATE. Turn it into a player crafting-storage facility and you'll be happy you did.

I've noticed that leaving loot on bodies is the fastest way to lose it. Even when an area doesn't reset the bodies sometimes dissappear, especially outside. Sometimes stashing in a container it is more likely to still be there.
