Also, for residential buildings I like to use a lamp that can go on the ground or a table.
There are mods to make lights brighter, naturally. Just do keep in mind that those lights have no occlusion, so if you put them too close to exterior walls it will look weird (or you can cover it up by lighting the exterior too). Keeps you from just using the hanging light bulb all the time.
Some have bright and extra bright options. But yes vanilla lights suck. Just the hanging bulb and that plain caged wall one are worth using.

Some oil lamps from SSEX I believe, But not 100% sure.
