Your biggest settlement?
Been working on my settlement at starlight drive in & it's really been influenced by Megaton from fallout 3.

Does anybody else have some gigantic settlement? I guess it'd be "your own diamond city". Where is it located at?

Here is a picture of mine. It isn't quite up to date yet, as i've added some extra things. But here it is at starlight drive in. Also, I do have some mod that adds the snow.

In one of my playthroughs I built up instead of out. Here's Abernathy Farm converted to Abernathy Tower. Nothing too fancy but it is 20 stories high and completely engulfs the Abernathy farm building and gigantic electrical tower at that location.

Wow. That's really cool. I bet the sign alone took a long time to build. But what about the main wooden building? Did you just build ontop of that? I don't think you can scrap it.

Over a hundred settlers in the drive-in. Generic game, no dlc, no console, no mods, no cheats.

I have a guide posted. But basically I assign a provisioner from other settlements to go to the drive in, once they get there I reassign them to a position at the drive-in. The limits can be expanded by throwing down on the ground bulk armor, weapons, and other items. Then storing them in the workshop, go get them and repeat.

Ohh alright, thanks for the reply! I'll have to look into this!

You can only get around 42 settlers in vanilla without cheating/glitching. Population is based off of your current Charisma score, + the base 10 for each settlement (except V88 that has a base of 20). Any population gained above that amount, is either attained through cheating or glitches.

It just sounds like you're using a glitch, tbh. And after reading your guide, that is all it is. Not, that there is anything wrong with that. The base limits were put in place to avoid the issues that you were having, as stated in your guide. You ran into problems, due to the fact that the program of the game couldn't keep up with what your were doing and trying to make it fit the parameters of how the settlement system works. You found a loophole, an the game was trying to work "with" it. Eventually it won't. Interesting way of doing it though.

You will find out that there are limitations on the settlement build size as well. And it won't matter how op your system is, when the program fails. Overbuilding will cause the game to ctd if done too much. There is no way around that. Learn the limits of the game, and stay within those limits, to minimize your headaches.

I just use a mod to remove the build limit. But I don't even know how you get that many settlers.

There are mods that allow you to increase your population size to 30, 50 or 100. Personally, I have close to forty at SD and that's too many for my machine. But, then again, I also have Sim Settlements as my main building option in that location as well. I can no longer save or FT in that location and have to go to Drumlin Diner if I wish to be close to that settlement while I save or FT. Otherwise, loading a game that was saved there, will either infinite load screen or ctd after trying to load everything, all at once.

If you use the mods that increase the base settlement population, then you can acquire them as you would normally do it in game. Without mods, you have to glitch the game, and after you do that so many times, it will start to slow the game down, as it tries to calculate the population that it "shouldn't" have, but does. In vanilla game, you can boost your CHA with drug/alcohol stacking that will increase your population max capacity, and that will allow you to get somewhere around 40 settlers. But, that's as high as you can go, without glitching the system or mods.

You are correct. I am just showing how to increase settlement size and population without using already available mods, console, cheats, and dlc. Nothing in the guide is not available by these other means.

Yeah the sign took hours and hours to build and get wired correctly. Hard to believe how many wires and switches there are. Was al ot of fun to figure out, but when the sign is turned on my frame rate drops to about 30 fps.

The lower walls of the tower are built completely around the original shack that is there.

Here's some pics during construction that show how large the space is inside the tower.
