How do I edit an original game armor with xEdit?
Here's the situation, I want to make the BoS Uniform stop using like 6 different armor slots for no good reason. I use a lot of visible weapon mods which use those slots, meaning they get unequipped when I use the BoS uniform, and I'd quite like to use both right now. Tried what I usually do to change an item slot, which is to open the mod the item is from and edit the slot, but I've never edited a base game armor before, and xEdit doesn't seem to let me edit them in the same way. Tips?

Copy that uniform over into a new plugin and then edit it. Thats how I would do it anyway.

In the right pane of xEdit, right click on the name of "Fallout4.esm" or whichever your working with. Select "Copy as Override", give it a name. Edit the values you want. Then clean it for ITM's and UDR's. After thats done, make sure that only the edits you made are in that plugin. Then I would probably copy that into a new plugin that is an esp with a ESL flag.

Generally speaking. I have not done something like that myself, but thats the process I would follow till I ran into trouble. I would make sure that you have the newest copy of xEdit, and then join that discord server so you can ask questions when you run into issues.
