Mo2 or NMM for Mod Organising ! ?
For the longest time, I've like using nmm , but now thinking of using or switching to Mo2 or rgoanising mods, ..
While its a lot more to wrap my head around understanding how to use it and get used to how it works, i'm wondering if fo4 skyrim le and skyrim special edition will be better for it ..
Currently watching a you tube tutorial about installing mo2 just to see , ....
Then there's mod downloading, since all mods on nexus site have nmm buttons not mo2 so might have to learn how to re add mod from download or download to desktop and add to mo2 if I start using like you do in nmm + add ...
Peoples Thoughts ?

And I forgot which side of the Steam we were. :steamfacepalm:

Of course DynDOLOD is only available for Skyrim and Skyirm SE. Not for Fallout 4.

I'll go and grab another cup of coffee.

I do it for Skyrim SE,...Not Fallout 4. But I know it works great as a file injector is my point. If you need files placed into Fallout or Skyrims game folder NMM is great for that cuz of it placing files in and overwriting what needs to be placed permanently. Im not saying dont do it with MO2, I just have never used it with MO2. Can someone teach me how to use DynDo with MO2? It would be GREATLY appreciated!

As with NMM, download DynDOLOD Resources and Bilboards. Install them directly with Mod Organizer.

Download DynDOLOD file archives. Unpack them to selected location in your hard drive. My BGS games are in E:\ and I have made the following tool for Skyrim (which works with SE as well). E:\Ingame tools\Skyrim\DynDOLOD.

In Mod Organizer 2: open the application list from right panel. Select <Edit...>

Creat two new tools:
  1. Binary > Browse to TexGen64.exe. If Title field does not automatically say TexGen then add the name.
  2. Binary > Browse to DynDOLODx64.exe. If Title filed does not automatically say DynDOLOD then add the name.

Run TexGen from Mod Organizer, by using the application link you just created. It will prompt the content to TexGen_Output in your DynDOLOD installation folder. Here you have two choices.
  1. Cut and paste TexGen_Output folder directly to your ...Mod Morganizer\mods folder and set it active in MO2 left panel.
  2. Alternatively you can use WinRAR or 7-zip to create archive out of the content and use manual file installation option of MO2 to install it like any other mod archive from your hard drive. This is the method that I personally use.

Finally run DynDOLOD itself. It will generate files like TexGen. You have same options with it's output files: move them manually to mods folder, or archive those files and install them as a mod.

I'm starting to really like mo2, still some things I don't yet get hang of, but getting there, I find it strange, compared to the way nmm did mods, mo2 sticks them, in a completely different places, ..
Something else I;m noticing, and find strange, ( well for me ) is that with every mod I download and install it sticks the left over archive I guess you'd call it into the recycle bin, ...
I don't know if that's sposed to be a kinda space disk saving feature or not ? little strange for the moment tho..
But over all I'm really liking it .. :steamhappy:

I used NMM before for FO4 and Skyrim.
For Skyrim SE I tried using MO2, and god that felt soo better.
It keeps game folder clean, you can switch profiles in a moment (and they actually work) and you clearly see which mod overwrites which (and can change overwrite order without reinstallation)

Well, you CAN delete it but otherwise it's for re-installation purposes. If you at some time decide to change those options you select at installation time
Maybe it's safe to delete older versions though, I don't remember if MO2 cleans them automatically or not

If names are same, then MO2 usually replaces the old folder with the new one. This is to expected. You can control this with running manual option instead. However, I always allow them replace the content in left panel, to avoid obsolete files there.

Process does not remove downloaded archives from MO2 download folder. You can reinstall old versions from there.

Personally I use named and version numbered mod folders, stored on my storage drive. I download files there manually, install them with MO2 and fill in download details. I already did this with NMM as well, always. I really dislike how download folders can otherwise become a mess. Sometimes mod authors even switch archive names on fly, so hunting something from mod manager download folders (be it NMM, Vortex or MO/MO2) was never a pleasant idea.

Question for you IIja
I'm getting a minor annoyance in mo2 , I've been using mo2 to start fo4 thru f4se from mo2 itself, But ,
if I start fo4 from f4se it keeps telling me , this ssve has this n thins mod in it that no long present do I want to continue??\
The mods it mentions are in fact still installed and thru mo2 , I have 3 mods so far that Ive recently installed , and its always those 3 that are being mentioned , if I chose to start from f4se iself o.O
All my other mods on mo2 are still listed as un-mamaged, I have has the time yet to re install thru mo2

F4SE needs to be run through MO2, because it uses virtual Data folder.

I would recommend swapping all mods as managed by MO, so that save files would not get on to trouble.

If F4SE complains after that, then I will check with you what is wrong.

Virtual Data folder indeed means that MO2 forms it from content installed to it. Game and tools will struggle, if there are unmanaged files.

Ahhh ok, thanks, I'll see about re installing all un-managed mods thru mo2 , thank you!

Hello IIja
I'm restarting fo4 again and decided to try and sort out mo2's all "un managed" and getting a bit of a pickle,
I used about 150 mods, and currently re installing from re downloads...
What do I do about all the dlc's they're showing as non mo in categories, so I need to re download those too =( and re install thru mo2 ?
Or how do I re download the dlc's and re install with mo2 ? "flusterd"

>_< thanks

Hello, jaderive.

Sorry for the delay. I was out of the town and just got back to my computer.

DLCs will remain as unmanaged. The game support from MO2 handles them.

Ahhh ok great thanks ever for all you help IIja and everyone :steamhappy:
jaderive 2019년 2월 10일 오후 2시 09분
Sorry, I have another question,
When I start f4se directly thru mo2, its locks mo2 while its running , I've been clicking unlock, tho should I just leave it locked or worry that it being locked ?
Ilja 2019년 2월 10일 오후 8시 21분
All applications will lock MO2 for their running time. This is to prevent that no file data is being change, while application is running and handling the information. It works as expected.

This could be changed from application settings, but I do not recommend doing so.

So leave it locked then and stop unlocking at the time every time ?
Thanks
