I'm the type of guy who'll never settle down
Where pretty girls are, well you know that I'm around
I kiss 'em and I love 'em 'cause to me they're all the same
I hug 'em and I squeeze 'em, they don't even know my name
They call me the wanderer, yeah the wanderer
I roam around, around, around, around, around, ooh
So where does this play
normally it's in an opening cutscene or trailer, so where does that song play (Other than the radio)
The Inkspots did the trailer songs for the firstbFO. But, they were a little before the '50's. Closer to the '30'-'40's.
FO2 was, "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire", by Louis Armstrong and was again, a little earlier than you might think.
FO 3 was, "Dear Hearts and Gentle People", by Bob Crosby and the Bobcats.
FO:NV had "Blue Moon", by Frank Sinatra.
FO4's trailer song was, "It's All Over", again, by the Inkspots, but was just background music to the new narration from the beginning of the game and lead into the theme music that plays at the main menu.

These are, of course, just the songs from the trailers and can easily be found by searching youtube.
P.S. I haven't found the actual artist that did the remake of "Country Roads". The one bethesda used, was NOT Jon Denver (who, himself did a cover of the original) and they never credited the artist. And, there are dozens of remakes/covers by a dozen well known or slightly known artists that have done the song. I've listened to numerous versions. But, I have never pinpointed the version BGS used. Great version, though.
Great song.
He should have thought to research what he was getting into, and the use of it actually brings more attention to his music because a lot of his fans were dying off, pretty much.
TBH, your right. He should have researched the game at least and seen that it is a fictional world used to explore a story and used as entertainment value only. Hell, his song speaks of immorality and sleeping around which was highly taboo in his time! He created a fictional world where he was a slut, but, it's wrong to pretend to be in a post apoc world trying to survive? I guess "make love, not war" is the sentiment here
Are you implying that Fallout 4 is violent?
Fair enough.
I feel like he did it for more attention and to try and get money out of Bethesda, because his music doesn't promote violence just because it's used in a freaking video game. Nor do video games themselves promote violence, unless you're a complete moron who can't tell the difference between reality and fiction who thinks to his/herself, "Oh, ripping a guy's arm off and beating him to death with it looks fun. I think I'll go out and try that."
