Getting more power? (Settlement Generators) [SOLVED]
My stupid pixel art requires 1 entire unit of power for ONE pixel each. (THANKS Bethesda)

That said pretty much all of my settlement space is taken up by all the stupid generators I need to pwoer the damn thing. I refuse to turn it off, and I hate all the noise the gennys make. Is there any other way to get power? Or at least more of it?

BETTER YET: Can someone point me towards a mod that makes pixels (or whatever those lights are called) not take power? And maybe a build limit remover? Thanks in advance.

There's a mod tgst makes generators run more quietly.

After getting 4th rank of the Science perk you can build Fusion Generators which provide 100 units of power, take less space than large generators and produce less noise. Vault Tech reactors provide even more but they don't really fit to regular settlements.

Here is an easy solution that I use to rectify the generator problem.
I use it to set the power output of generators to something more substantial.

stand at the generator you wish to change.
go into console mode while you're looking at the generator.
type ~
right click on the generator (that will call up the ID number of the generator)
then type
setav 32e ### and press Enter (You can do this with any generator).

(example)
a generator that puts out only 3 and you want more out of it. Let's say you want 120 instead.
then do this:
~setav 32e 117 and press Enter

press ~ to exit console.

When you go back into settlement workshop mode, the new power rating will show up.
This will save you a ton of salvaging headaches and save you the risk of messing up your game with a mod.

When I have space available and want quiet operation, I choose to modify the windmill type generator from 3 to 120. I can then run the power to anywhere I need to use it

Just a heads up.
Generators are often the target of an attack that can disable your defenses.
So it's best to have a redundant backup power supply running the same lines.

If you want nostalgia, oil powered street lamps and lanterns require no power.

Thanks that sounds useful!

Jouni, can you create those things WITHOUT the vault tech DLC? Cuz if so that sounds amazing.

Anyway, found a way to turn off power requirements for light boxes (pixel art) anyway so I don't really need those things atm, but I'll consider them if they start to become ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Oh AND I found a way to increase the build limit, if anyone wants that:

You need DLCs for both Fusion Generators(Wasteland Workshop) and Vault Tech reactors(Vault-Tec Workshop). I wouldn't even bother building settlements anymore without DLCs because I would be missing too many important components. Contraptions Workshop is the most important DLC for settlement building.
