Impossible to get a Explosive Legendary Combat Shotgun
Hello friends, recently I was farming at the National Guard Training Yard for the Explosive Legendary Combat Shotgun, but I think I got every prefix but the explosive one. I don't know if my level is too low for the explosive prefix to appear. I'm currently level 17 and has been farming for over 2 hours and nothing of the explosive prefix. Can somebody explain what I am doing wrong? Maybe I should back on a higher level? Thanks

There is some scripting mixed in that's intended to lock out legendary effects from appearing if they've been used recently, so if you're farming for a particular legendary effect and it doesn't seem to turn up at all, you can try going around and grabbing a few legendary items with different effects before trying again.

If you're already getting both the Explosive effect and the Combat Shotgun, but haven't seen them together, it's just a matter of luck.

You are farming for an item in a single player game than allows you to spawn any item using the console.

Thanks for answering, but I would like to play without using any mods :)

I found one of the things in the entire 11,000 + hours I've been playing this game. I think it may have been discontinued for being just completely overpowered.

I think you may be right, but I will still try to find my explosive prefix. Thanks Though :)

You know it did 15 point explosive damage--per pellet. Seven pellets per shot--105 points damage per shot--it's more like shooting a super accurate hand grenade. Plus the ballistic damage. Plus you can get a 32 round drum for a combat shotgun. I'd like to try it out on a mirelurk queen.

To tell the truth, I have already get a explosive legendary combat shotgun on my last playthough, I know that weapon is awesome, but I'm having trouble to get this weapon now :/
P.S.: It's the best way to kill a mirelurk queen xD
Certain legendary combinations are prohibited from being randomly generated. This might be one of them.

You could try setting the game to Easy if it's too difficult without the most OP weapon imaginable? ;-)

It was just TOO cool. While I owned mine I actually blew myself up once trying to kill radroaches nibbling at my feet.

I always play on the hardest difficulty, playing on other difficulties is out of question hahaha

You are welcome. :cozybethesda:
Would you mind saying why you choose to play without mods?

I don't know exactly why I like to play without mods, maybe it's the idea that some mods can destroy my experience with the game that scares me ahaha

I think that explains a lot, because I get a explosive double barrel shotgun a few days before when I started to farm the explosive combat shotgun. So what I need to do is just grab a few other legendary itens to make the explosive prefix to appear?
The legendary creating script has a 'memory' of the last (10? I think) legendary effects you've found, and inhibits those from appearing again in a random legendary until they've been shunted off the memory list by other types.

If I remember well, I think I found four or five legendaries after I got the explosive double barrel shotgun. I'll try to find some videos on youtube about good farming spots to achieve that 10 random legendaries :)
Yeah basically you want a location where respawn control is broken and mobs respawn all the time. I think Dunwich Borers is one of the famous ones? Don't know as I don't do legendary farming. Good luck.
