You get there by entering a VR Pod you can build. VR POD is like some concrete, metal and circuitry (no quest), and you need a terminal. I was actually able to gather everything needed in Sanctuary.
Getting power armor there seems kinda tricky because a companion would have to wear it.

The island is huge. It is also divided into four workshops which almost touch each other.
Unfortunately you can not fast travel on the island to the four different workshops.
But, you must buy this CC to be able to access any of them. ka-ching.
The map is also really funky because it shows a Commonwealth map. In other words I think Bethesda did not make any framework for modders to allow newer maps and such.
The virtual settlers seem to arm themself according to their job. I have two guards and one equipped a combat rifle and the other equipped a minigun. Only even when using openatorcontainer 1 you can only see the ammo. Trading an equipping a gun does not show the weapon like when swapping clothes. Maybe a hidden inventory item.
Yes.
A modder could take the shortcut and create their worlds and have it require the VR CC. There already is a lot of mods out that that require CC items.
No.
The framework is out there and someone could recreate a VR imitation however that would probably be a lot of work and the modders would most likely just use the above method.
Sorta.
The framework was also for cells in general which means it shouldt be easier now for mods like the Beantown Interiors.
Either way this is the kind of CC item I can get behind simply because it can open up loads of possibilities from modders. Even without the additional stuff by modders using the framework you are looking at hours and hours of building between the Desert Island, GNR Plaza, and Atomic Crater. That Grid one can kinda rot, not a fan.
I think the only way to force it would be move commands to the workshop IDs.

The hard part is deciding what to do because the area is so big and there is no landmark type stuff to build around.
I mean that is like a population of 15, and I could easily hit 50-60 and still not even come close to filling in the one workshop area.
I do like the two water towers that came with the VR workshop, which actually require Local Leader rank 1 to build.
The GNR plaza came with some planters, but sadly they do not function as planters. The best I could do was place a mutfruit tree inside of it using Place Everywhere.

The GNR Plaza is pretty big as well, it seems to be a duplicate on the Capital Wasteland CC item.

This building seems like it would be fun just rebuilding it as a 4-5 story building.

Yet the above screenie is still only about 20% of the build space in the GNR Plaza.
Which I am pretty sure this GNR Plaza is not the same one from DC. I think it is meant to be from the DC area.

Started a new version. I am liking it a lot better. I am using maybe 20% of the build area for that workshop.

If you are a builder player then it is absolutely worth it. I think I spent more time building in the VR worlds than time I spent in Nukaworld or Far Harbor.
You can set up the VR worlds within 15-20 minutes of exiting the vault. The hard part is the 4 circuity and the 10 aluminum for the wind generator, terminal, and VR pod.
IDEK's Logistics will make supply lines work in it.
Sim Settlements and Sim Settlement Conqueror works in it.
-Sim Settlements ill not produce basic food resources, but the plots that create misc food items still produce.
-Sim Settlement farm plots are pickable, but vanilla crops are not.
The Desert Island is bigger than Spectacle Island only it is divided into four workshops instead of one.
The Atomic Crater is fun with the weather making it immersive. Quite a few of the trashy type SS plots look great there.
The GNR plaza is pretty large as well.
I did not care for the digital world at all.
I have some screenshots in my profile of the different VR settlements I built.
Also really hoping the settlement defence CC item gets an in sim version with higher challenge, maybe the virtual workshop will to, its not impossible.
Ok it looks very large and well done with alot of content but it doesnt add to the sim and is out of sim. Thats an issue for me and same with the workshop attacks item. Both would be so much better if it was in the Fallout 4 game instead of not. Not interested until then.
