Mod to kill essential NPC
Is there a mod that lets me kill essential NPCs but like it was in Morrowind? What I mean is that if you kill an essential NPC in Morrowind then it notifies you about it and tells you to reload the latest save if you wish to continue the questline

I don't know one that works that way, but Father Companion includes an option to selectively kill off essential NPCs by finishing them off when they're "down". So you won't accidentally kill anyone important. The mod also has several alternative endings but they can be ignored and there won't be conflicts. You need to use a free holotape to activate the kill option.

There is some NPCs that if you kill them you literally break the game and will never get an ending.

Are you actually trying to kill and keep them dead? Or are you trying to specifically be told to reload?

Not sure what Morrowind has to do with this...

It aint gonna change my answer if I read it a second time.

You basically want a mod that says "Do not kill that NPC" instead of understanding that is the purpose to making them essential.

Essential NPCs are essential for a reason. They are necessary to a quest line and killing them breaks the quest lines.

The OP wants to know the consequences of killing the NPC now, like it used to be when you kill a NPC then it spams a bunch of failed quests.

The OP does not understand the essential flag is the new mechanic instead of having a constant scripting running in the background of what possible future quests you may fail by killing NPCs.

Im giving an example. If you played morrowind you remember that if you killed someone who is essential to the main story it would tell you that

Some essential NPCs arent related to the main quest

Maybe there will be bugs if you kill someone essential, not just failing the quest. For example, if the script never consider an NPC can be dead, it may cause unpredictable results, because they never write that part.

Yes, I know how Morrowind works. It basically just told you that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and can't proceed.

So again, what are you trying to achieve? permanent death or just an indicator that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up?

If you just want to kill them, I think there are mods for that. If you want to know that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and can't proceed, I don't that exists.

I assume you want to know you may have ruined things, but have the option to kill them anyway. It's not impossible in theory, but I haven't personally heard of anyone using a mod for it (in my limited experience).

But like ut said, it may cause weirder results than back in Morrowind, given that the possibility of them being dead is no longer accommodated by the game. I'd hope any such mod at least makes them Protected instead of Essential, so that it's not a case of random deaths messing things up, which is one of the reasons for having these states in the first place.
