Running fallout 4 at higher framerates fix for high refreshrate monitors
Hello everyone, i've been playing fallout 4 for a month + at 90fps by using this tweak made for Skyrim SE. ALL CREDIT TO THE SOURCE THAT CAME UP WITH THE FIX.

https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/6xzthx/a_few_lesser_known_ini_tweaks_120_fps_physics_fix/

120+ FPS physics fix

This works in Skyrim Classic, SSE and Fallout 4.

If you played Skyrim on a 120+Hz monitor, you probably ran into a few issues like water disappearing and reappearing, floating animals, items flying all over, the cart at the beggining going crazy.

5 years after Skyrim's release, a fix for this has been found by /u/HuntBoston1508 in 2016. This completely eliminates the wonky physics problems we have been plagued with all these years:

In Skyrim.ini add this line under
[HAVOK]
fMaxTime=0.0333 is for 30fps, may help performance on slow computers
fMaxTime=0.0166 is for 60fps
fMaxTime=0.0133 is for 75fps
fMaxTime=0.0111 is for 90fps
fMaxTime=0.0083 is for 120fps
fMaxTime=0.0069 is for 144fps
fMaxTime=0.0042 is for 240fps+
and
[Display]
iVSyncPresentInterval=0 for Special Edition
iPresentInterval=0 for Original edition

Many people were concerned that this might affect the scripting engine or be bad for your save file.

I have been using fMaxTime=0.0083 in Skyrim Classic with over 300 mods ever since it was found and it has been running flawlessly. No more flying items, flashing water, jumpy animals, crazy carts.

I can confirm with 99.9% certainty that this is, indeed a true fix and has absolutely no downsides. Don't be afraid to add this to your ini. It is absolutely worth it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: I used it with dynamic performance tuner to keep the framerate mostly stable at 90FPS.

Yeah this subject has always been around and will always be around.

I used to quote the math to show the bottleneck issue with scripting. However people would still argue with the math.

You can even show the Buffout 4 to see the crash logs and tell them the overflow crashes is from running too fast. I actually had to reduce the number of threads the game used recently because the game engine didnt like the sped.

You also notice the pattern with these "I run it that fast" comments?
- They NEVER mention how many mods they are running. The heavier the mod script load is the faster the game crashes.
- They never seem to stick around playing very long either. The only three recognizable names in the topic is Nite69, You, and Zekiran.
I deleted my comment since it just doesn't seem worth explaining to people. The two most consistent threads on Fallout 4's Steam forums seem to be:
1) Here's how I run it faster than 60 FPS.
2) Why is my game crashing!!!!!
Yeah except #2 has two categories, the too fast category and the weapon debris category.

I have a Vault 88 with 148 settlers in it and about 250ish Sim Settlement 2 plots in it.
How fast you think my game would crash running at 120 FPS?
I might as well click the game start button and then hit Alt F4, lol

Admitting that you could not make sense of it is not something you should say in public.

Then again what do you expect from someone who necros a four year old topic suggesting to use the INI from a DIFFERENT game made six or seven years ago.

Then ignores the fact a half dozen people said not to go over 60 FPS and singles me out to make rude and offensive assumptions about me and my PC.

No jester awards for you. You get the top secret award that is so top secret it redacts all of your posts made ub the past, present and future.

"Then again what do you expect from someone who necros a four year old topic suggesting to use the INI from a DIFFERENT game made six or seven years ago."

Says the one who commented on a topic 3 years later themself. The hypocrisy is strong with this one lol

Telling people not to follow bad advice is not hypocrisy.

Lonely and bored people will argue over anything and everything just to get a little attention.:spacehamster:

...and four years later it became irrelevant due to the Next Generation patch.
Yet someone still dug up this trash pile of a topic.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
