Found something better than the deliverer at level 15...

So I just found a VATS enhanced pipe revolver, same affix as the deliverer, except, it uses .45, which is way more powerful. It gets better, at level 25, with gun nuts 3, I can silence it as well and change the ammo to .308. Yep, a freaking .308 silenced pistol.

Sure the rate of fire and magazine size are worse but the damage is ridiculous, and in vats neither of those two downsides affect the gun much. I was planning on playing a melee build... but guess I'll be a gunslinger now..

Oh, and I found it on that abandoned building that spawns lots of radroaches, near Corvega, it spawned a legendary roach... with a pistol, cuz bethesda's logic!

My character has 1 perception though, time to get a settlement to mass farm carrots! (Them orange mentats!)

People like to trash the pipe guns. While it is true they really generally are not end-game weapons some of them can be really useful.

Lev 70 and I am still carrying around an explosive automatic pipe rifle I got at about lev 10. Not my best weapon, mind you, but great for clearing out ghoul/insect/raider spam.

Last playthrough it was the same gun that had a % chance to cripple legs.

any weapon is ok if you find the right legendary one. A nice 38 pistol is good to carry around to use on weak foes, no armored foes, etc. If you shoot off legs of ghouls or synths, you can use a simple 38 weapon to finish them off without needing to use up ammo of your bigger guns. Find a good legendary effect on a .38 and switch it to a automatic, sure tons of low damage bullets, but the legendary effects on a zillion bullets heading downrange really pack a punch. I remember one playthrough i basically used my kneecapper 10mm pistol and a crippling automatic .38 to mow down all the enemies i ran across. 10mm them until they are down and can't move, then the .38 to wear down their health, since i had like 10k bullets for it at that point.
