Building stores in settlements
Is there any point to the stores? It says top left that they generate income depending on the population of the settlement but I haven't read anywhere about using stores as meaningful income.

Is there also a difference between the tiers of stores? For example, one store needed 500 caps as a resource, the second needs 1000 caps and the emporium needs the cap collector perk.

Before anyone suggests the water purifying for caps, I'm well aware. Just had enough resources for stores.

Building stores is a great way to sell off heaps of stuff but they never have anything good to sell and you do make caps from them but not much

I figured I can just sell to them. Any rough estimate on caps wise?

Well you can sell your excess stuff to them, I've never noticed an increase in income. But in my case at least, by the time I could build them I wasn't short of money, just traders to sell to.

Stores generate caps per day based upon how many settlers are in the settlement. Without mods it is capped at 50 caps per day.

The different levels of the stores generate more happiness and better inventory to sell.

If you are looking for more of an economy for your settlement then Sim Settlements mod has a tax system. For exmaple I had a settlement of 50 population and it generated about 300 caps per day, after expenses.

Yeah, i use stores to sell off my stuff, buy ammo and tough combat armour, when it is in stock.

As everyone is saying, they don't generate a lot of free caps per store, but they do provide a place to sell of your own loot, which generally provides far more money.

If you're also producing things to sell like purified water, the stores provide a place to immediately exchange those for caps without leaving the settlement.

The higher tier stores have better stuff to sell. I look at them as mostly a role-play thing. They make the settlement into the start of a real town. And they give something to assign a settler to work besides farming. They increase settlement happiness. I don't care if my character gets any benefit from them.

I use alot of mods but i dont recommend using any for settlements at all. The modern furniture and Noir Penthouse(none shown here) both add items for building as well as the DLC and amazing very cool entirely bug free and "living" settlements are possible.

These screen do not use even one mod for settlements or building and show an almost completed settlement that will be even better when done.

The mods shown are unrelated texture and model replacer mods. Also my screen is quite dark so the colors may seem brighter to others.

How do you clean out all the weeds, scrap piles, leaf piles etc?

I made a seperate mod and no leaf piles removed but some trash is removed, just have to click the item in the editor window and press the delete button on key board. I did this around popular areas and settlements in a single mod. Sometimes adding trees and bushes. A seperate mod for Diamond City interior.

Just dont delete any items in the item list window it will randomly crash the game, only in the actual cell view window and items in the game world. Its extremely easy.

All the screens i have are WIP screens and basically all have flaws that need impoving later. Many placeholder textures and models are used.

Stores that you build in your settlement are usually just for easy quick selling. You can offload stuff very quickly to them without having to fast travel all about the world to hit merchants. It isn't needed, just something to do if your building those in a settlement or 2.

It isn't hard to grab your loot, wear your charisma gear, pop a grape mentat and sell off to Karla, hit the Diner, fast travel to diamond city market and offload all your junk. Its just easier to do if you have a half dozen merchants in your settlement that you can visit instead of fast traveling about.

I usually have 1 settlement with regular settler stores so i can get them going fast, and I have 1 settlement with the unique tier 4 merchants. Each Tier i believe has their seperate inventory. If you have 2 trading booths in your settlement of the same tier, they share inventory, so no need to have 2 in a settlemet of the same tier. But if you have a tier 3 merchant and a tier 4 merchant, 2 different inventories.

It's just convienent, it isn't game breaking or outrageous. If you have the settlement skills to make traders, make them. if you don't, just sell to the dozens of venders already in the game.

This is why Starlight is a favourite settlement. Early game can sell goods at Drumlin Diner and even later game can still sell items there if the settlement stores dont have any caps left.

Here I thought my settlement looked cool because i had a nice line of tatos organized wtf
Flippy Nov 8, 2018 @ 5:37pm
I got to get around to finishing that settlement and taking nice screens. Most of those screens are from the current ironman play through but some are not. I rebuild it from the ground up exactly the same each time i have to restart. I know where every wall and floor goes exactly now. :)

yea im the same way. I don't do elaborate settlements, most that i build are exactly the same as every other time i build them. After a dozen or so times you have a feel for what works and what doesnt, so why mess with something that works.
