Anyone else refuse to use ballistic weave?
Feels like every playthrough I use it I just become unkillable and it drains all the fun out of the game. Way too OP

No because I prefer bullet weave over the power armor, I don't like the way they did the power armor setup in fallout 4, in Fallout 3 and New vegas it was better because it acted like standard armor.

also bullet weave isn't OP once ya get to higher levels, trust me enemies will get more difficult as you level up higher

Agreed. It's much too strong. I could accept it with lower stats for some sets of clothing (e.g. a tuxedo or a uniform), but an armored bathrobe or cap is just nonsense.

Glad someone feels the same lol, like 5 playthroughs ago I messed up on a sneak character and let a deathclaw see me, literally took him 6 hits to kill me on very hard with low endurance, since then I haven't used ballistic weave at alllll.

I don't refuse to use it, but I like power armor better.
There's a mod I have that adds more weaves and I purposely use the weaker weaves so I'm not carrying 200+ stimpaks all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time. Introduces the scenario of having more Rad-Away and Rad-X than stimpaks in a heart beat.

No, I don't refuse to use anything that it's in a game.

Also unkillable depends on the difficulty: I have actually used a lot ballistic weave because I don't like how characters look with normal armor and believe me, I got in more than one pickle or even died for being too cocky with ballistic weave in survival.

The problem with your immortallity might be aswell due to the game's design. It's not a game designed like Dark Souls, to be constantly challenging. F4 is a game that takes a world building approach first, then other things, so difficulty has simply spikes: you run around 80% of the time just obliterating things till you find some tough enemy that butchers you. Like comparing a fight against 3 raider VS the 1st time you stumble with a Deathclaw and you aren't prepared.
I used to avoid using it on every playthrough until I started using an NPC scaling mod that made Ballistic Weave actually have a use for me. It still makes .38 weapons do no damage but that's because it's a trash calibre in-game, however, the higher level variants of robots with gatling lasers or Gunners with .45 or 5.56 mm can still easily kill me if I am not careful and I am currently lvl 85.

On a very Hard game or Survival, it is not too strong at all.

i honestly haven't even touched armor upgrade talent and i'm lvl 70 atm and everything is so easy with the sneak sniper build, it's like easy mode for me.

Ballistic weave is bad because you can't glue a jetpack to it.

People use power armor? I haven't, it's chest mode basically.

I don't use either Ballistic Weave or Power Armour, neither one is needed once you know the game

This. FO4 is really hard without power armor in survival especially in early levels, and the ballistic weave mod is a nice alternative for those who don't want to use power armor all the time. I am one of those people. And it's not that OP because the stats don't stack with the power armor stats.

Sounds like some of you don't understand the damage resistance formula. 100 resistance only reduces a 100 damage hit by half, and a 50 damage hit by ~60%, even a 10 damage hit from a small caliber weapon is only reduced by about 75%. Difficulty multiplies the final damage, so with 100 resistance against a 10 damage hit you will still take about 5 damage on very hard.

There's a reason some of the OP mods add armor with like 2000+ resistance, because that's what it actually takes to trivialize content.

The only time I need Power Armour in Survival is to get the mini gun off the vertibird. Once thats done I get out of the PA and leave it on the roof.
