Anywhere to sleep in the Glowing Sea?
Well I made it down to the Crater of Atom at level 4 (Survival) but I'm really tired and need to sleep. The last beds I passed are back at the Mayor's bunker. Is there an available bed anywhere in the Glowing Sea, or do I have to massacre the Children of Atom just to put my head down for the night?

I believe there is a military bunker somewhere near the edge of the glowing sea, if I remember correctly it has a military radio broadcast, but that might require a radio tower to be opened.

There are a couple of trucks parked right near the border of the Glowing Sea. One of the trucks has two mattresses in its cargo hold. These are the closest beds I've found. Level four? You've got to be kidding. What kind of creatures are you encountering? How did you even get the quest that early? The trucks are a little way south of the motel. Let me look this up. The motel is Roadside Pines. Just south of there is Natick Baks, and just south of that is the parked trucks--usually guarded by a deathclaw.

Thanks, I'll head to Natick Banks.

I didn't get the quest, I just decided to walk south along the west edge of the map.

I got as far as Virgil's cave, but apparently he doesn't need to sleep - no mattress..
The bunker under the Abandoned Shack also has no beds btw. I guess they're down the broken elevator or something.
I'm encountering mostly radscorpions and stingwings, some deathclaws. I've killed a couple of radscorpions and evaded everything else, apart from the deathclaw back at the Mayor's Bunker.

Use this map and zoom in on it, someone made a survival map with the shortest distance between beds

Can you even sleep in radiation? Just wondering I never tried.
I was wondering that too.

Thanks!

I checked the Dynamic Map but it doesn't have beds.
Ok looks like maybe Sentinel Site cave or Super Duper Mart Cave are the closest to Crater of Atom and they're both unowned interior beds. Thanks again!

What did you use to kill a radscorpion? At level 4? In survival? Please tell me that you at least have a set of power armor. I can usually put together a set of T-45A power armor by level 4. But it's hard to believe that even a sawed of, double barreled shotgun could kill a radscorpion at point blank range.
Hardened double barrel shotgun followed up with .44 magnum. Plus a Focused Institute Laser rifle (that I got in the Mayor's bunker) clipped a few HP off it before it got close.

I have 20DR 40ER girded leather armour and used my last Med-X and Buffout for the first radscorpion fight. Special stats are more or less all 4 except 5 END.

I didn't bring my T-45B power armour from Sanctuary so I just had leather armour for the fight and I was down to 3 HP or something. Luckily I left Sanctuary with masses of water though I'm now out of food and eating raw meat as there's no food preparation facilities in the Glowing Sea either. I bought a little food from Brother Ogden, but of course the RadAway chews through food.

I got the T-45A PA from the Abandoned Shack bunker otherwise my Rad resistance would be too low to enter the actual Glowing Sea even constantly popping Rad-X

The warning in the Crater of Atom when you try to sleep is "Cannot sleep while taking radiation damage". I didn't want to use my last RadX to see if that would be enough to allow me to sleep, especially as I would have to kill all the Children of Atom first.

Exploring the Glowing Sea at low level, interior cells are a massive help, and any facilities are useful - workbenches of any kind. Even dirty pools of water.

I evaded a few deathclaws, radscorpions, behemoths, and stingwings. But eventually one will spot you and you can't break contact (AGI 4 and one level of Sneak, plus the magazine from the Shack bunker).

The second radscorpion fight was really weird. I was wearing the T-45A but no combat drugs left at all apart from 2 Jet which I'm saving for dire emergency. I strafed it with the Institute laser at it approached but that did no real damage. I jumped up on a rock so it couldn't burrow up under me... and it just froze. Never seen anything like it. Maybe it's pathing got into a loop or something. It was eerie though. It was like it was sitting there saying "I can wait for a year for you to get off that rock, human". I watched it for minutes, it was just outside melee range. I was really worried that once I fired it would attack. I had no MedX. My plan was I would pop the Jet and try the shotgun + .44 combo again. But the radscorpion didn't blink. I emptied the Institute laser into its face 1.5 magazines worth, and it was dead. A badly needed meal for me.

Weirdest thing I've seen in Fallout 4. But then I guess the Glowing Sea is the place for weirdness.

Alright you've piqued my interest. I just started a new character. I'm going to see how soon I can get a set of T-45 put together and get down there. I'll be extremely surprised if I can make it by level 8, but we'll see.

You can do this quicker Dan. Level one go to Diamond city. I've posted somewhere how to get there untouched. Go downstairs to Fallons. Buy the hazmat suit. I also posted how to get to the glowing sea safely. TIE has done it. The trick isn't getting there but staying alive once you are there. The structures will give you some shielding. I've been all the way to the nuke facility and back without getting killed well below level 8
