Raising gunners inside a settlement to... farm them!
Hello!

I just had an idea. What if someone builds lots of gunners cages inside some place surrounded by turrets and... let them loose once or twice a week?

Could it be possible to farm weapons and ammo this way? The wiki says even mythical npcs can spawn from cages no matter what level you have... I think they could drop some really nice loot!

It would be really fun! Its a shame they dont carry fusion cores...

gunner cage is expensive

But they cost only 50 caps to repair...

What about super mutants? Maybe they carry those mini nukes? It costs 10 steel, 2 copper and 5 brahmin meat... maybe with a brahmin farm?

Well with DLC and some mods (extended manifacturing) you can even automate it:

But just to have it said, that one was overdone becuase it seems the automatic butcher cant handle more then 10 Bodys at the same time or got irritaded if the bodys got dropped in delayed (long coverter belt)

i usualy keep it simple to mostly 4 cages raiders and 4 gunners, perfect to farm bones if you need some :dustpan:

Yup that's what I did with the airport. 15 cages or so and I drop by and open the cages. watch rockets kill them, loot them, and Go to the prydwen and buy cores from teagan. High Level gunners spawn and have good stuff to sell.

But do you get the xp if the turrets do the killing?

Wow that guy does it riduclusy hard and no if turrets kill it, without you at least shoot at it, you wont get any exp usualy (at least on my system that is)

Sorry for the late answer, i was roaming around but i did visit my base on Spectale Island where i have that on my actual playthru:

I did that one pretty sloppy but it works fine, one tip i can give use some Solid floor (i used concreed blocks) otherwise the NPC sometimes fall thru the floor and show up outside

i Usualy go to the top, deactivate one switch then shoot the wall - that triggers them usualy to come out and you can shoot em down or trow simply a grenade in

Go sleep few hours spawns usualy some in or roam a day around (ingame time) and if you getting back they usualy full. All done without Console, Floor mat or other mods expect the extended manifacturing mod for the automatic Butcher (and indeed the DLC's)

Thats rly cool man!

Im trying to figure out a way to kill them without getting killed myself. Maybe a sniper tower kind of far away or try to make some small space between 2 walls haha... the penetrator perk would be perfect for this stuff too haha!
