Using Vacuum Hopper to keep workshop empty of food and water?
I'm still using Sanctuary as my main settlement while I continue to explore around but there are a few times I find myself not returning each day to empty the workshop of food and water and to restock/sleep.

From my quick test with the non-modded vacuum hopper I realize it cannot be configured to pick out specific items.

That being said, would it be more ideal to drop-off my junk at an unused settlement that is connected to my main settlement while having a vacuum hopper taking out any food, water, and miscellaneous junk that my settlers harvest/find?

If I understand it right, I'll still be able to use material from that unused settlement via supply line while only the material, food, and water gathered at my main settlement would enter that workshop thus limiting the amount of items my vacuum hopper would need to continually extract.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated,

Thank you

I thought the hopper would be great. But It only activates when you are in the settlement. So you still need to visit the settlements. So I gave up on it. If I am in the settlement, I can just empty the WS myself.
Only a mod will 'fix' the settlement sharing stuff. I just live with the vanilla restrictions.

Well fudge. That serverly limit its usage. I try to limit the mods I use but might have to cave-in and get one that "fixes" the vacuum hopper.

While the vacuum hopper isn't selective, you could send its output into a sorter and have all the junk items go to one storage, while everything else goes another.

It still only works while you're around, of course, like any other active settlement object.

There is a mod that adds shareable containers. I don't know the name. I never used it. But you can add a container to each settlement. Anything you put in them will be shareable at all other containers. A lot like the mailboxes? in FNV. I still do not know how to auto empty a WS and add to those containers. Must be a mod for that. I think there is a mod that links all the contents of all the WS. So you just have to empty one, once a day and all will be empty. I try to limit mods to the essentials so I never tried it. That one sounds dangerous.

What determines the amount of storage space in Survival Mode? Number of settlers? I assume you have your drop-off points all connected via Supply Line?
