Fusion cores
So, i looked up fusion cores for locations, but i have a question. What is if i ´´waste´´ all fusion cores? Do they respawn as like other items do?

not that I know of. there's a finite amount of them.
Get one of the Recharge mods to recharge the cores. Also, there's a mod on Nexus that fixes the problem with the Gatling Laser not actually draining the core and spitting out useless half used cores.

The cores found in generators never respawn.
Cores found in vendor stocks, on enemies or in certain types of containers however do respawn.

You can always buy more from vendors. Every three days perhaps.

Also are those half used cores useless? I think I used some of them to power my PA.

If you have Automatron, Rust Devil robots have a pretty solid drop rate for fusion cores / mini nukes even without scrounger perk, so hunt them down if you're struggling to find some more.

By the time you get to lvl 12-15 you should be finding enough fusion cores that you never need to buy any. By that time, you should be able to live in your power armor and never worry about running out of cores because you will be finding plenty of them. It also helps to have the Nuclear Physicist perk, which makes fusion cores last twice as long.

You can easily finish the game with over 100 extra fusion cores even if you play most of the game using your power armor. Once I get the jetpack for the X-01 power armor, I never go anywhere without it.

You can get infinite fusion cores from the bodies of brotherhood soldiers.
Legit, i got capped out at 98 looting their corpses.

Where do you get this jetpack?

You will be able to build it once you've opened your skills enough. About level 35 ish? depending on how you like to play.

*edit* I have no clue, actually, cause I'm cooking and not in the game, but if you'll go to the PA station and check out the chest of an x-01, you will see that it's an available mod and it will tell you which perks have to be open to make it.

Edit 2, yep, earliest is level 41 is you're not using commands or mods.

Armorer rank 4 and Science rank 4

You can buy them from vendors. Most general, weapons, and armor traders will at least have 1. I've seen as many as 4 in a single trade. Each core gives 500 shots in the gatling laser or 20 minutes in power armor. Nuclear Physist will increase this further.

My Power Armor Paladin has never gotten out of his suit. Not once, other than building settlements (close to 50 hours on that character). Even had enough to keep my gatling laser fed. Once you get free water going in settlements buying the things is no problem at all.

A partially drained core has the same value as a full charge. So drain all yours to 1/100 then sell for max efficiency.

Anyways I second a recharge mod as this makes life so much better. Sort of kills balance but unless you want hardcore then meh.

I think the general idea was to make you choose an opposing faction to the BOS so that you would have to kill them and take their fusion cores as a type of loot reward.

If you want to conserve power in power armor then you dont use AP for attacking (VATS) and dont sprint anywhere.
Khissi Jan 1, 2019 @ 9:01pm
It uses itself up very fast if you're constantly overloaded, as well (speaking to myself here), just gotta plan ahead and learn how to get your companions to carry everything by having them pick it all up after you drop if. Well, that's if you're not using commands or mods.

This is because like I said earlier, using AP uses power.

As others have said, they can be found in containers... Not sure if it has been said already, but Scrounger will also affect Fusion Cores, and it's not uncommon to find 4 in containers at a time with that perk...

Otherwise, vendors are your best bet... Sell your near empty ones too, as they don't lose value, even if nearly depleted, as this will offset alot of the cost of the new ones...

If you use all of the cores that spawn in the power grids, you'll need to obtain them through other methods.

Power cores can be rarely found in ammo containers (I suggest getting the rank 2 luck perk "Scrounger" to increase the amount of cores you find when you do find them), obtained from high level robots (namely Sentry Bots who drop two), found on vacant suits of power armor, or pickpocketed from anyone using power armor (Quincy is a good place for this, as is any Brotherhood of Steel patrol). If you can't find any through these means, they can be purchased from most merchants who sell weapons for a couple hundred caps each.

Also, be sure to pick up the rank 9 intelligence perk "Nuclear Physicist", which increases the lifespan of powercores when used in your power armor by 25%, 50%, and 100% at ranks 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
