Jake Finch dead on cabin floor.
After hundreds of hours living well and being a good son now he is dead. WHY?

I was shooting at a bloatfly, and I missed. Sorry about that.

But he wasn't really a "good" son was he? He sided with the raiders at the Forge and went against his family. Karma got him in the end :P

Having said that, I would resurrect him personally as I don't like settler family members dying on me randomly.

i believe he is flagged as NOT essential and often wanders off to die. Im guessing he is suppose to have been flagged once he reaches his home settlement, but never was programmed to do so.

I don't think his family will miss him. They are all sleeping around his dead body. But will miss him, after all we had a bond.

He probably died of a broken heart because Lucy Abernathy didn't like his "Brut" aftershave and rejected his advances.

None of the Finch NPCs are flagged for essential/protected. The same way the ones at The Slog are not.

The last time I waw him he looked fine. I do not like my settlers dying, there is a doctor on the premises

Lol, I don't think settler doctors can perform miracles like bringing someone back to life. :D

If you really want him back (and you're using PC), open the console with the tilde key, click on Jake and then type "resurrect" (without the quotation marks).

Doesnt work very well on any named NPCs with scripts.

Ick, Brut always reminded me of spiced sweet tea that had sat out in the sun for too long and had started to ferment, and not in a good way. Also, most guys I knew who wore it thought "splash it on" meant "bathe in it for five hours".

No wonder Lucy hated the boy, hypothetically-speaking.

I will try. It took so long to get that settlement over 70% happiness.

I'm old enough to remember the 70's TV advert. lol. "Brut... it won't let you down". :)

Basically what happens is once their script ends (because they died) they wont restart it. Someone usually says "resetai" well there is no script to reset to, lol. So usually what happens is you can bring the NPC back, but it pretty much just stands there and does nothing.

However what you can do is make yourself a BAT file and run it, so you next game it automatically gives protected status to the NPCs before you ever meet them.
