Too bad that there isn't a mod that "paints" dead bodies with something glowy so that they show up even in dark places. God knows how much loot I've lost over the hours I've played this thing. Unfortunately, I play this on the PS4 (yes, I know, console scum, etc etc etc), so the mods probably aren't available anyway.
works well, and has some optional versions of the rings used so you can get a lot of highlight functionality
Advanced options are a bit hidden away on the start screen but even there I can't minimise the amount of grass in any obvious way The world is really hairy and you can't do much about it, I'm tempted to even try dropping a lit cigarette to see if it does anything. It's annoying for building as well where you can't get rid of things like recently dead bodies or skeletons.
When I go to save Ada there's a robot that also seems to shoot off like instead of a super conducting brain it has super elasting limbs.
It's a great game like Fallout 3 but it also has these nagging annoyances I'm surprised they've not addressed. Some of them leave me godsmacked. I'm a developer myself and I can understand some issues with things that are complex like the physics system (where even cosmic rays can make a mess of things and cause something to defy the laws of physics as implemented) but on the other hand there are things like a quest not progressing that should when I push a binary switch (turn off a radio) with it stuck like a broken record constantly telling me to punish the child in a French accent.
Bethesda is never going to release "approved mods", because that would force them to curate the mod content.
You can enable achievements for mods with this:

Most relevant bug fixes can be found from UFO4P:

I am using this mod in my own game, to locate bodies. Of course I am also using very dark nights, where either lights or enhanced visions are actually needed. I like to keep things in balance.

Ever heard of physics? That dude must've fallen from the platform.
Bodies won't disappear unless there is an extreme amount of them at any given time, or after a certain time. In other cases, they just bounce, fall, and sometime rocketjump in the air for no particular reason.
You've not looked into mods for very long. . . there is a script to re-enable cheevos. And read the decriptions and bug reports if you think the mod is "dodgy". The UF04 patch fixes most of the nagging bugs in the game (not all of them, mind you). And if you want a select few "approved" mods then the Creation Club was designed to take your money for that exact comment!
Bottom line is: if you want to mod this game, then you're going to have to use 3rd party apps AND you are going to have to do your research (I know, right? life's tough). It's up to you on the what and how. OR, you can mod the game yourself and alter the codes however you want. You have that option under the game license.
1) Falling through the ground/buildings if they land just right or some other collision thing happens I will actually see them sink through the ground or building becoming out of reach.
2) Despawning if a battle takes to long the earlier bodies will clear away before we get a chance to loot them I have had one actually vanish while I was looting the one beside it after a long battle.
3) Physics I have had some that when they fell they hit in such a way they bounced off into the air landing who knows where. Especially if explosives were used.
There can be other reasons but these are the most common ones I have seen personally.
Oh, aye. It's like maneuvering a Big Wheel through a cactus patch at midnight, most of the time. Only not as much fun. :D
I've looked at the re-enable achievements mod. It's not something that looks like it isn't going to cause trouble. If the game is every updated it doesn't look likely to stick, in fact it looks likely to break things and cause a mess. I'd end up making a script to add and remove it for sanities sake which all comes down to being high maintenance. It's not something like just a piece of LUA. It's even got ASM in there. It's practically a crack.
A tough choice but between screwing with the game like that or foregoing achievements then I'd take the latter choice at this point.
It's good that the company is quite open to modding but it's not good when it's leaving it to the community to fix bugs and issues that at the least it should really pull upstream. If all they have to do is curate then that's half the work done for them. Keep in mind I'm taking things like bug fixes which considers super elastic ligaments causing bodies to launch half way across the map a feature rather than a bug.
Being able to turn down the vegetation would help a lot. Maybe a console command?
Body finder would be enough to have a simple post (line) on the body if it's not empty.
