If I take Over Covenant
Do I have to kill everyone living there? The merchany Penny is about as rude as they come. Half the time she's supposed to be in her store she isn't. She often doesn't bother to unlock the doors till hours after she's supposed to. Half the town has some reason for not talking to me, which doesn't dispose me to be friendly toward them.

I know they have some force doing something secret on the other side of the lake. I did it once a long time ago. I already killed Honest Dan this time around. That guy is as obnoxious as they come, So, is a complete rubout required?

Yes, except the kitty cat, and you might need the console or you will run into problems with the settlement. I had to cheat and delete the turret rubble from the walls because it wouldn't despawn.

Those turrets aren't all that great. Pretty small sized settlement isn't it--area wise.

I killed them all on my first playthrough and didn't regret it - filled it with 3 settlers (two on bars, one on farming) and got it to 100% happiness. lol

I'll probably do the same this playthrough. Can't be dealing with that dodgy bunch. lol

Very small. You are petty much limited to building within the prebuilt area. You have a very tiny area outside the walls you can build.

Well.I had to kill then all. I retreated back to Taffington Boathouse where, curiously, my 140 worth of turrets didn't even shoot at them. Neither did ADA, who I had assigned to the location. Talk about worthless defences.

In short, it's certainly possible to side with them and gain control of the place without killing everyone. It doesn't require Honest Dan to survive, but I don't remember offhand if you need him as the lead-in to get that result (but it's entirely possible you don't). You could always wander across the river and investigate the place over there to see what sort of state it's in; it's not like you can do any worse than already killing everyone.

Without using console commands, it's possible to remove the turrets with a build selection glitch I stumbled across (where you deselect another item and select the desired one behind it by spamming button presses), though it requires an additional step of having a built surface nearby for them to shift onto for removal because for some reason they're locked to their current positions and can only be rotated, even when selected.

Thats because they were still 'friendly' or nutural NPCs at that point. They only become enemies if you side against them in that quest you don't want to bother with. The idea that you aggroed friendly NPCs is outside of the game logic. Do your turrets at Sanctuary start shooting at Marcy et al when you do? The game ain't designed for a chaotic evil playthrough.

You love this game so much but you hate every NPC in it. I confuseded.

i just kill all the starter settlers in all settlements to get rid of potenial bugs keeping them as the random settlers are way less buggy and claiming them for the raiders is just walking up to them and planting flag and the raiders go where is everyone.

I let the game kill them. Use weather mod that makes ghouls or start automatron. Soooner or later the random encoutner spawns nearby or ghoul spawn will kill them, lol.

Buy the legendary helmet out of the store there before you kill everyone. Just saying. :cozynekros:

Siding with them is morally dubious unless you are BOS or even institute. You can with a lot of trouble remove the turrets, but it's hardly worth the effort. The place has the only clean double bed in the commonwealth which is it's only saving grace.

Well, she had a day to kill, and.......

Does she work for you? Because you sound like she works for you instead of running the store *she* owns.

If you really are roleplaying hating on synths i guess you can side with them, but they are a bunch of nutcases trying to figure out how to ID synths from humans, and just killing and torturing humans in the process, not caring what happens to their victims as long as they think they are still on the path to learn to ID synths. They hate and fear synths so much, the ends justify the means. its ok for some innocents to die as long as you reach your goal.

Kinda like the old way to find out witches.. If some innocents die while trying to ferret out witches, no biggie, just part of the process. Or its ok to torture 10 people if you know 1 of those 10 has the info you need, but you just don't know which one it is.

Nah I know what bug he is talking about and it is extremely annoying. Penny will teleport to her shop WITHOUT unlocking the door. I think the only way to resolve it is to be there when the AI script goes from idling to work and she paths and unlocks the door.
