Kendall Hospital - Barred door wont open.
I cleared the Kendall Hospital, then decided to go back to collect stuff I left behind. I went into the basement where I killed the deathclaw. Then when I try to exit from there, the door is Barred and the bars wont move and I have no option to move them back.

I tried reloading saves and the same issue happen. As soon as I exit the area and come back the bars turn down again and even thought the door can open, the bars are preventing me from moving throught.

mmm did you try tossing a grenade at the door to see if the explosion would move the bars any. I'm guessing by your post the bars are inside where you COULD raise them, but they are static now so you can open the door but the bars are just blocking the opendoorway. I also assume your on console since simple pc commands can fix this.

I'm actually inside and the bars will not move. The option to lift them up is not triggering. I tried to put a grenade and they are not lifting up either.

I'm on PC. What console option would fix this ? I really wanted to play without ''cheating'' but it's not leaving my any choice apparently.

Hit the tilde key (~). type: tcl (toggles clipping mode). This will let you pas through everything. And just re-enter the tcl command once your through.

I get the not wanting to cheat idea. But, with some bugs, it's just not worth the arguement.

yes there is a reason console commands are in the game. Bugs require working around in some way, broken quests need fixing, stuff like this need a way to get through. TLC is a great command to remember it will get you out of being stuck in places you shouldn't be stuck in.

Ok thanks guys !!!

Look at it this way: console commands used to get yourself out of a sticky situation that is caused by bad coding is not cheating; doing something that lets you one-shot-kill a behemoth with a toothbrush, THAT's cheating.

I think you got the bug that refuses to allow you to interact with objects. Like can not sit in chairs, use beds, etc.

A way to try resolving it without console commands would be create an exit save, exit the game, then reload from the exit save. This can be said for many other issues. However using the consoel is so much quicker, lol.

I usually encountered this bug after carrying objects around by holding the A button down on the controller.

Does this building have a timer on it where it resets to the original parameters after a day or two of in-game time? I wondered if that's how some of these maybe-not-glitches happen, since I know places will respawn enemies after a time. That may be why the bars go back to their original aspect, once the timer resets.

If not, the game is possessed, like some many fine Bethesda products. Love them, but they are like juggling rabid chihuahas sometimes.

Thanks for the input people.

Actually, when I exited the building the first time, the bar stayed lifted up, no issue. But as soon as I quicktravel to another place and come back to it, the bar are downed again, and I cannot interact with them.

Wich mean this area in the Kendall Hopistal cannot be accessed or I'm stuck in it. Next time I go in there I'll use the console to correct the glitch. I'm not gonna spend more time on this area, that I actually hated.

I may try the exit save solution later on.

Do you have the quest to explore the hospital from the ---? If not, you should not be in the basement yet. There is a switch to power the exit door. The back door will not open without power.

Quicksave, Reload works 99.999999999999% of the time to solve stuff like this. If you're in survival, there's almost always a bed nearby.

I have completed that quest already. (the railroad related quest) I just went back-in to collect stuff I let there.

I'll give it a try if I come to the location. I hated this level so much that I dont want to even go near it again. If it does not work, I'll use the console.

Thanks people !!

came here hoping for an answer. didn't find one that worked, but by complete chance i discovered that you have to click on the bars themselves specifically, not the door generally
smh tod

Well if you keep pounding on a barred door, when exactly is it going to open in real life? You HAVE to touch the bars, because... that's... literally what is blocking your path...

Mostly true. You don't have to touch the bar as you can shoot them open or use a grenade; this works even from the wrong side of some of the doors. You can order followers to open chained doors even from outside, as long as you can target the chain through something like a window. They magically reach through the door and remove the chain. Might work for bars as well. But that doesn't change the fact that the bars do indeed bug out occasionally and can not be reopened.

Also, this thread died 6 years ago. You didn't need to resurrect it.
