What is this noise???
Hey guys. So I've been playing Fallout 4 for quite some time now but recently I started hearing this noise. It sounds like a static that randomly starts and stops in probably random bits of 5 seconds or so. What the crap is causing this? Is it a quest? A bug? Aliens? I have a video that I'll post so you can hear it but seriously, it's driving me insaine. If you could help me you would be doing me a huge solid. Thanks so much.

Are you using wireless headphones?

I hear a similar sound on mine when something nearby transmits on a frequency close to what they are set on.

Nope. I've only ever used my Logitech headphones that are plugged directly into my PC.

Do you use a gauss rifle or gamma ray gun? If so try charging and discharging them.

radio towers, you find them from audio clues with the radio. The closer the more defined the audio is, usually voice message saying where a hidden location is.

So check what your radio is tuned into

Yeah, It's the sound your pipboy makes when ever it picks up a new radio signal. If you move in and out of range of the signal it will play a disconnecting sound. If you're running mods then you know your culprit. If not, might be a glitch since you're not getting pop up messages

The thing is though, no matter hwhere I am at, I hear this stupid static. I teleport from one side of the map to the other and I still hear it.

Do You have any new HAM radio operators in your area / neiborhood?

Only thing else would be what they mentioned about your PipBoy going insane. (just to drive you there too!)

HAM radios shouldn't cause audible static in the game. It WILL however, disrupt any kind of internet connectivity if it's close enough. I had one about 200 ft. away from my last apt and the tower had a direct line of sight to my cable between the building and the pole. It caused latency issues. But, nothing audible.

cool to know! Thanks!

O.P. . .It sounds like a glitch. There is a mission that gives you a radio broadcast to listen to. When you get the mission for the first time, it makes that sound. . . .once. It shouldn't be repeating. The static that you get from random broadcast towers sounds different than that. And, you can't hear those while you are in a vault/dungeon.

Any mods, dlc, etc.? I think I heard that sound last, when I received the mission for the Automatron dlc.

No DLC. Gah...might be a glitch...I'd hate to have to start a new play through...

It's a radio station. Access in Pip-Boy, turn it off. It's easier than getting VD.

Trying verifying your game files through steam. And cycle your pipbpy radio on and off, jus tin case it's the radio glitching out.

Did you by chance, fast travel shortly after exiting a workstation ?
For anyone still struggling with this, it might be a automatron issue. Only solution I've found is reloading a save to before it started.
