Player Home/Bed
Is there a way to assign a home or a bed to the player so nobody else uses it?

In Sanctuary Hills I built a bed inside the house near the workstation. So far nobody has used it but me. All the other beds are in other homes.
Or maybe if you sleep in that new bed once, it gets permanently assigned to you?

Hmm what I ended up doing is just build a wall blocking the door way.

No one can go in or out.

I also built a room around Marcy and filled it with turrets and marked her as an aggressive enemy, and was able to sleep very deeply after that resolved itself once that patch to allow her permadeath was implemented.

I mean I like cynical sarcastic people as much as anyone, but some people just don't take a hint.

I should have put her on guard duty or something, but at least everyone can mope about with their own depressive thoughts knowing that at least she won't plague them again.

and really if I wanted her back it's just a console command away. and yet. the commonwealth feels like it might recover now.

I have the "That's My Bed" mod which adds beds to your settlement furniture catagory. Your character and his/her romance interest are the only ones who can use it. Hope this helps.:steamhappy:

If a piece of funiture is not owned it can be targeted by the ai package if they are blocked by a wall they will eventually just warp to the bed.

There are a couple of options the simpliest target the bed and set the player as the owner the second use a mod.

The console command with the bed etc. selected would be

setOwnership Player

That's one of those things that got me thinking ..

There is no place to call "home" anymore.

With the exception of Dalton Farm in Far Harbor which is given to you.
But beds ... jeesh... the only way I can keep a settler off my bed is to make sure they are assigned to a bed .... in a different building and make sure my entry doors are locked. But even that won't keep them out.

Project Blueprint for Sim Settlements includes player beds, which can not be used by settlers. They provide same benefits as default beds for players.

I should look how they did that and ask from SS team, if method could be used as a separate mod, for those who might not want to add Project Blueprint in to their game.

^ This.

They will use beds in order of making them, but do not directly unassign themselves from their own beds, if they were actually assigned to them. I am using this method in Sanctuary, with Snap Beds couples beds.

They will remain assigned to their beds, as far as the chain of assignment isn't changed from between, or it at least filled fast. Moving one settler to another house, without directly assigning someone to new to same bed, can break the chain. Usually it is safest to move the bed to another house instead, because settler remains assigned to that specific bed.

Problem is that any disturbance to AI may cause settlers to recheck their beds. It looks like Mama Murphy's need to sit often causes her to be especially prone of selecting player bed as her new bed, despite being assigned to somewhere else. Safest method would be to always store the player bed, of Project Blueprint beds are not being used. :/

I just never sleep.

Or I get a double bed which can be used by two, assign Danse to it and then roleplay "happy loving couples".

I have to admit, those synths can be less "troublesome".

I think sleeping gives a bonus to XP earned for a while. So drop down and give yourself 12 hours of sleep, soldier!

I didn't know that, ok I'll sleep more. :)

I did "sleep" for 2 hrs yesterday and got the well rested bonus, that's hardly realistic is it? In real life if I woke after 2 hrs I'd be feeling really groggy! But maybe Danse fiddled with me during those two hours, which could explain it.

(Sorry that was a very un-PG comment to make.)

Well, if we talk about realistic, let's imagine what the world will be after years of nuclear winter, much higher radiation at sites zero all over the world and so on... The picture painted by the game is hardly what the real life will be after a nuclear war.

In the game I don't even see that many ruins from bombardment with regular weapons. Hell, there will be nothing to live on after a nuclear war. And if there were survivors, they would die within hours or days if they wore a radiation suit.
