Sure crit in every 3 shots.
Hey guys... I am just wondering. Once you have luck 18 you get to fill the critical meter in 3 shots (Imagine with 4 leaf clover... close to a crit in every 2 shots average? This is a wild guess :P).

Its not hard to get 18 luck, you just need base 12 and 3 pieces of lucky gear. There are some clothing which provide luck so you can even reduce that to 2 pieces of lucky gear.

When you consider the damage potential offered by better criticals and some mods that can escalate critical damage 10 times or even more...

I wonder if this could make weapons that excel in vats ap cost rival the most famous and notorious gauss, overseers kiloton, etc.

Im not sure a deliverer criting every 2 shots can outperform an oversers, but Im sure these luck builds are really fun!

This is one of my favorite fallout videos:

This is basically the principle behind gunslinger builds, using high damage, low AP pistols to maximize your critical potential. Combined with Gun Fu and Critical Banker you can pretty much crit 100% of the time

Its often surprising how many shots you can get out of a good rifle, or even automatic if you build it right. Getting up past 10 shots with single shot combat rifles isn't too hard with a couple of VATS enhanced armours, and there are two sold by vendors.
It takes a bit more effort but crit spamming builds with either are more than viable, especially with Gun Fu, you'll just be less dependant on the crits with them.

I fill up the crit meter in three shots using a lucky handmade rifle with a luck of 9. Not wearing any magic armor. (Build is crit sniper.)

sounds like a hell of a find. i really underestimated lucky weapons when i first received RA but i love them now

if you craft drugs the overdrive gives you a 25% chance of critical which is a critical every 4 shots. no luck required.

Overdrive lasts a goodly long time. I crafted some took one with the drug duration increasing perks. went thru pretty much all of vault 95 under its effects.

can do sneak attack + critical hit damage with it, without bothering to use VATS.

apparently works very good with an automatic freezing weapon which freezes things on critical hits

It was a lucky find! I was wandering around Sanctuary out of boredom and came across some Minutemen. They had just killed a legendary radstag and I happened to notice it and check it.

Now that you mention this, I bet it is really fun to roll with a freezing weapon... I never used them because I never had decent luck.

When I was testing earlier, a weapon with all the crit stuff only did ~3x the damage as a normal hit (I have all the perks). Still a nice damage bonus if you can trigger it often...
Critical hits multiplies base weapon damage (just like they did in Skyrim).
(This is why the damage is lower than expected.)

If you're rolling a crit build "Just to do lots of crits" then you don't understand the point of crits.

Criticals are meant to be built up when attacking soft targets or 'clearing your way to a boss' like the Forged boss, for example. Then you're meant to use said critical on the toughest mob around, whether that's a legendary (And hopefully prevent it mutating) or a boss, or even something that just "Got the jump on you" and willl instagib you like a skull radscorp.

It's a safety net for when you need an "OH SHI-!" button to keep you alive.
It's not something you're meant to build around.
If it was something you were meant to build around, you'd still have FO3 style Grim Reapers Run....which refilled the VATS meter on literally every single kill.
