Ada is still searching for the target?
Finally started the automatron dlc, and can't get past the first mission. I show up, Ada's pretty much killed every robot, but is still searching for a target. I've tried everything besides reinstalling or starting over the entire game. I even used a console command, but that completes the entire quest. I would like to actually play through the quest if possible.

"I'm searching for the target" Ada bug?
So I went to the caravan in the first quest for the automatron dlc. I didn't exactly feel like doing it once I was the level to get the radio signal, I wanted to get more affinity with some followers first, and leveled up a lot, but now I decided to go and do it. When I got there, the fight was pretty much over. Ada killed everything. When I try to talk to her, nothing happens. She's still searching for enemies that aren't there. I tried almost everything. Searching the area for rogue bots, reloading saves, sleeping, and nothing. I even tried a console command i read about, but that just skips the quest entirely. I'd like to actually do the quest instead of skipping it if possible. Any help is appreciated, I just want to actually do this quest without starting over my whole game.

Could you be a little more specific? ADA needs to track down three robots to gather enough information the direct you to the Mechanists lair. Is that where you are at? If so, it may take a little while for her to find them.

No it's the first quest. When I'm going to the caravan. She's acting like there are still robots attacking the caravan when there aren't any.

Ah, O.K. It's an annoying game mechanic issue, more than likely. There are mobs that spawn nearby and if they got agroed, then you might have an enemy that fled or is hiding somewhere. I just did this mission again and had the large group of Rust Devils and two fifferent mobs. One of stingwings and the other of Bloat Flies. But, there is also a mob of raiders that spawns nearby as well. No real solution to this other than hunting down that last enemy or using the command console to finish the script. If it's possible, load a save from before you trigger that scene. That's the best advice I can give you.

Just a thought. . .Isn't there an elevated highway nearby? It was at night when I walked by and started the mission and forgot the exact location. If there is the highway that I'm thinking of, then it is possible that your remaining enemies might be ontop of it.

There's no way to get on top of it. I literally just searched the entire area, killed everything, even slept for several days, even beat up Ada to try to reset her or something, and nothing. Her hands aren't even spinning like she's in attack mode. She's just standing there and saying she's searching for the target. I'm livid.

I'm guessing that reloading isn't something that you want to do? There might be a console command that will kill all enemies that are in your cell. But, I don't remember if it will kill all npc's as well. Maybe look into that? And just because you can't get on top of the highway doesn't mean that the enemies won't spawn there. Get into console command and type tlc. That is noclipping/freefly mode. Use that to get on top of the highway, just in case. To check.

Otherwise, the enemies could have wandered off and may not be agroed to you, making it harder to find them. OR it could have been a radstag that got caught in the cross fire and is now non-hostile towards you and has run away, but ADA is still trying to kill it! I really hope that's not the case!!

You could resetactor. Or use console commands to reset the stage (quest). I've rarely use these and am not familiar enough help, other than to point them out.

Anyone still looking for a solution for this - I managed to get things back on track by using the Cheat Room mod's Cheat Gun in Resurrect mode (so I suspect any resurrect console command would work, but I'm on Xbox). I resurrected a few of the destroyed robots and killed them again. After doing that, Ada left her combat state and I was able to get the quest started.

At a guess, it's tracked internally as a number of enemies of a certain group, and if you resurrect ones you've already killed and kill them again, then the counter runs down to the point at which Ada leaves combat. I suspect there's still a robot out there somewhere but that's a problem for another day.

Open console, click on Ada and type "resetai". This might work, as it resets her AI. You can also try clicking on her and type "disable", followed by "enable" immediately after.

Edit: oh. Didn't realize this was an old ass thread

To any player that comes across this problem the solution is the console command

SetStage DLC01mq01 2400

The state gets stuck on 2350, which implies the 2300 objective is only partially finished. I roamed around after using the command and outside of the mapcell that the caravan was on by like 4 cells found a single mister gutsy that was still fleeing so I'm just putting 2 + 2 together and getting 6

If you use the following command, it will change the quest state to be where you can talk with Ada:

SetStage DLC01mq01 2400

From what I have read, the quest can sometimes get stuck on the previous state where Ada is fighting the bad robots and thinks there are still more to fight against.

Thank you. This helped me continue the quest.

Are you in survival difficulty?

Because you can do neither of these things if you are, you'll need to install a console enable hack or kick yourself out of survival, which you can't re-enable.

So you can either reset the quest, fast-forward the quest like Darklord said, or you can turn on no clipping mode, tcl, and find the missing aggro enemy that likely fell through the mesh. She will never quit if they're in range, as you've seen. These are your only options other than loading an earlier save.

Can you go to a power armor station and mod a helmet to do targeting hud, where every "living" (even robots) glow red, or chew some berry mentats so they glow with pink berry smoke? You can get lucky sometimes and see just enough of them to kill them and allow the quest to progress.

But honestly? Use the console. If you're on Survival, go ahead and install the console enable mod, because the odds of you getting through the entire game without needing it is pretty damn near zero. Like this particular instance here. (just you yourself getting stuck in terrain still happens. Welcome to Fallout games.)

Thank you so much to highadmiralh. Now I can start the quest after weeks of trying to figure how to get ADA to talk to me thank you so much..
