Why is this game so buggy?
Any ideas? It's frustrating.

No mods, I'm getting the traditional crash to desktop upon launching bug. It was working fine yesterday after I changed it to windowed mode, and before that it was working fine until then it wasn't. I'm not even asking for help, I've just reached the point now where I'm frustrated and wondering why this game is so damn buggy.

You should probably buy a plane ticket and go ask them.

Or develop an engine/game this malleable and see for yourself.

Unless of course you just need the attention we are giving you ...

Your welcome. 💘

Because it's made by Bethesda. Whenever I see a non-game breaking bug I just laugh it off, take a video of it and continue with the game. Glitches is just a fun little bonus for me in Bethesda games.

So expressing frustration over constant bugs which affect numerous people (look how many threads there are by people having the same or similar issues) is attention seeking? And I'm not allowed to express this frustration because I'm not a game developer? If you say so.

I don't mind the odd glitch in general, but crashes to desktop are a bit annoying. Though it's not as bad as Fallout NV, where I had a bug which meant I could not progress any further because it would crash whenever it loaded the video after I completed one of the DLCs.

But I've managed to fix this latest problem, by changing the resolution that window mode is run on to 800 x 600...

Thanks for the advice to everyone who offered it though, it's appreciated.

This is Bethesda game, what did you expect?

If your game is crashing to the desktop on a new game and you have no mods installed, look to your VC++ Libraries and drivers.

You may have conflicting libraries installed.

I'll bet if you look you'll find that you have a whole bunch of them.

Ideally there should only be two, the latest for x86 and x64.

However note that some programs will only work properly with specific versions.

Because it's complex and Bethesda stops caring after the money rolls in.

Bethesda isn't the problem if its crashing on startup unmodded. Something on your local system is hinky, hopefully a driver issue that can be fixes by updating, otherwise something hardware wise is problematic.

Always worth downgrading options and checking when it does work, or looking up optimized configurations.
