Two Shot Plasma Pistol > all?
I got the overseers, a hand made rifle and a plasma gun, all with the 2 shot trait... the only one I am missin here is a 2 shot gauss rifle :P

I dont know whats going on, but the pistol range beats all my scoped rifles, a huge beating!

While the other 2 guns deal around 200 - 250 damage, so does the plasma pistol except, it deals around 200 balistic and another 200 of energy damage... for ~400 damage in total...

After modding it with an improved short barrel, inside a power armor with agility bonus I can shoot 9 times on vats... it shoots more than the other guns with REFLEX sights... (much lower range and accuracy).

A gauss rifle could probably beat it? Tho it will never let u shoot 9 times in vats, I believe.

I don't know about the ">All" part of it but yeah, it's a great weapon, very powerful. Enemies who are highly resistant to energy are going to prove tough with it though. Enemies with low resistance to energy however are going to evaporate.

One benefit to plasma is it's often easier to locate the piles of glowing goo when it becomes time to loot the battlefield. Some of those bodies are damned hard to locate otherwise.

Its great huh!? :D

Even if some enemies have energy resistance, the balistic damage alone is beats the overseer's and is very close to the balistic damage of a hand made rifle. Since theres also the energy damage that is equal to the balistic damage... omg!

plasma weapon sucks because you need to lead the shots, end of story

Lead? They give me the best odds in vats, I never miss a headshot with high per, a plasma gun and killshot perk, tho if I miss, the concentrated fire assures me the next shot ill hit :P

Plasma weapon cost good amount of ap in vats, still cannot compare to two shots assault rifle if vats is your thing. But I will admit the effect looks cool. Another good looking gun effect is the Alien Blaster. Pew pew blue light energy balls

I don't like energy weapons because they can't be silenced and can't get 'explosive'.
Plasma damage is decent.
(Recoil on auto plasmas is silly though)

Plasma weapons are much less useful outside of vats. If you use vats very often, then they are very good. But trying outside of vats to headshot or hit a moving target with plasma weapons is much harder than a laser or ballistic weapon because the plasma bolts have a lot of travel time.

Yeah, they look kinda slow, but the plasma pistol has maybe the biggest range in the game and, tho I am not sure, I think its accuracy is also on top.

Like I said, with my perks (sandman, rifleman) a combat rifle deals like:
~200 balistic damage.

A plasma gun deals:
~200 balistic damage

AND

~200 energy damage.

Its a 400 damage potencial, it doubles the combat rifle even with maxed sandman and a supressor on.

Its balistic damage ALONE surpasses the combat rifle as well.

Its great for vats since I can shoot 9 times with it without any AP cost reducion gear on, more times than a combat rifle, if I am not mistaken.

Its such an underrated weapon... people must really hate it because the shots are so slow...

They are slow, they are hard to headshot with, and the bolts are big, which makes aiming after the first shot pretty tough. But they do do excellent damage. They just aren't good for a sneaky sniper.

in noneVats Gauss is the way to go, it easily outdamage plasma and can onehitkill most enemys if perked and build right. like already mentationed plasma has no silencer, what cuts it away from alot of extra damage with the perks founding on silencers.
plasma is just a pain in the a.. in noneVATS. only good to equip provisioners with it, when they are mooded that way that npcs can use them well (learned the hard way that some weapon mods work great for npc settlers, where others that are great for the player, just kill the npc because it cant use the modification well)

Hey guys... something really weird is going on here...

I was amazed at the fact the plasma gun had twice the accuracy value of my overseers and my radium rifle, and my handmade rifle as well.. twice!

Then I took it for a walk and realized the odds in vats were a bit too low for my taste so I headed back, picked up all of these guns and compared my chances ad headshoting and mid to far range and for my surprise, the overseers with half the accuracy and 1/3 of the range had better odds...

I just cant understand this :S

I did the same test hours ago and the resuls werent like this.

I also have the impression plasma shots have a bigger "hit box" and can sort of get stuck in obstacles more easily?

playing on survival, several different things can affect the damage and accuracy done with weapons.
