even if you cheat things into the game with console commands, they will still need work at one of the benches.
You have a few basic quests that require you to build stuff. If you have enough resources you can get by, you don't need to put any perk points into Science, Armourer or Gunsmith etc to actually meet the requirements of these quests.
You can also get 6 charisma and perk into bartering prices/success to sell excessive junk etc and buy upgraded weapons instead of MAKING them.
I noticed this was especially effective when trying to obtain rank 4 Gunsmith mods like the Combat Rifle .308 reciever and Hunting Rifle .50cal mod. I could buy it a solid 2-5 levels before i could craft it, if you paid attention and visited every weapons / armour merchant you can buy gear far better than you can ever craft, so you don't really "Lose" anything in terms of item options.
You actually gain them. THe game is EASIER with charsima and high caps, not crafting skills.
However, there is one exception to this strategy and that is raw levels. If you haven't at least got 4 Armourer by level 40-50 you cannot get the best Power Armour or Ballistic Weave in the game.
Period. Ever. Both items -require- you to have rank 4 armoursmithing and they allow you to have 1800+ and 300+ damage resistance respectively. So PA will give 1800+ damage resistance, a solid Marine or Combat armour build with ballistic weave will net you 300+ if you don't like using PA.
Personally, i don't use PA -or- Ballistic weave. I'm on "hardest of hard modes" lol
i'll be looking at power armor a little differently now.
i've never used it much.
The Unique end-of-DLC nuka-world one is 1880 at Mark six (MK VI).
I'm sure there are mods taking DR even further, but you shouldn't need it.
Utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you clear every area of loot you actually come out in the positive by 20,000+ caps before you even hit level 40.
But if you don't modify CarryWeight you will take a very long time to accomplish this.
It's significantly faster to just put a point into Science and 2 into Gunsmith so you can build the higher-tier stuff in settlements.
picking all that stuff up is part of the game to us.
however [always with the pesky however], some people are not interested it what they consider "doing nothing".
they want to blow stuff up [almost said ♥♥♥♥ there, but i'm glad i didn't] and kill things.
gathering all the stuff just gets in the way of actually playing the game.
they don't see it as time invested in becoming a better killer.
or at least they don't feel that the time invested gives reasonable profit/advancement towards their goal.
so while what you say is true, it is only true for some.
*chuckles*
Right you are.
I had forgotten that people even get impatient and just leave valuable stuff laying around.
Maybe i played too many difficult MMORPG's like Ragnorak etc to just leave stuff lying around like that. It sure gets boring at times, but it pays off when i can afford something like Overseers' Gaurdian at level 5.
in the previous fallouts like NV or FO3 of these types the best and coolest equipment in the game was ascertained by either doing a cool quest or finding it in the world. I still remember that amazing plasma rifle you get for doing that quest in FO3 lol.
it's just to me personally I would much rather find something of value then craft it.
Some weapons are gained from quests. Here's the wiki link for all weapons in the game. Each one has a link next to it's name and from that you can find out if it's a common weapon or a special weapon you find or get from a quest.
