Fallout 4
Mods and dlc
I am using Vortex. In vortex plugins section, next to all dlcs there are warnings "Requires cleaning (LOOT). I was told in vortex's forum that fo4edit wil clean up dlcs.

So you people who use mods, how do you clean dlcs? I read in fo4edit's forum that cleaning dlcs can break game? What's going on? I am using more time on these mods craziness than on playing itself lol

I wouldnt do that.

I actually tried it once and it resulted in a crash. Fallout4 and dlc are play tested and fine as is.
I recommend cleaning DLCs, if you are playing modded game. That can not crash your game, but leaving obsolete references in might.

I suspect that Flippy experienced a cyclic dependency issue, which caused the crash. In this case a simple mistake might have caused extra dependency between files and crashed the game on launch.

I actually did that myself once, when I wasn't paying attention.

Thanks for explaining! Could you please explain how to do that? Or give link? Tried to google, but i seem to be blind
Avrie made a guide about this, which is linked to Commonwealth Coffee Room reply #1.

Thanks guys! It's amazing how helpfull some players in here!

You can, but backup your save files, just in case. I have never heard about (confirmed) issue coming from cleaning files for ongoing game. Better safe than sorry though.

After cleaning, remember to redo all dynamic patches you might be using, like FO4Merged and Bashed Patch.

I am not using Fo4merged and bashed patch, but have no idea what dynamic patches are. Is there any list of them so that i can check if i have any among my mods?

Not really. Basically any patch you create with xEdit or tools for your load order is counted as Dynamic patch.

You might want to consider using FO4Merged and BashedPatch. Game does not merge leveled lists on it's own, so each conflicting record edit will just overwrite the previous one.

Game does not merge records either, if ESP carrying them over from ESM gets it's records overwritten by another plugin. Load order change can not always sort the conflict, because sometimes ESPs need to load as they are to load resources (scripts, materials etc.) in the order they are. This is where xEditMerged comes in.

Is this:

"Once the final CK version is released, and the game comes out of Beta, there will in all likely hood be a 7th master called Update.esm This will be the most important of the master files, and must be cleaned first." - yet relevant? It's from Master Cleaning guide
Cleaning dlc went well.

But when i use fo4edit and try to make merged patch, i get these 2 lines at the end in the information window:
Assertion failure (D:\Projects\TES5Edit\wbImplementation.pas, line 5345)
Assertion failure (D:\Projects\TES5Edit\wbImplementation.pas, line 5345)

Any ideas? Btw why 2 identical lines?

That sounds like your xEdit tool is out of date. Check the link from the guide and pick the most up to date xEdit tool.
If the 3.2.1 in Nexus isn't working, then try 3.2.2 - or later - from GitHub.

https://github.com/TES5Edit/TES5Edit/releases

Just rename the executable as TES4Edit from SSEEdit.
Yes, i have 3.2.1, gonna try yours.

To reinstall merged file, i need to delete old one? right? Is that only single file Fo4merged.esp from Data folder? I don't need to delete anything more to make new fo4merged file?
If you are using both FO4Merged.esp and BashedPatch, 0.esp then delete both, or at least disable BashedPatch before merge.

FO4Merged needs to be included to BashedPatch (if both are made), but BashedPatch must not be included to FO4Merged.
