Can't Get NPCs to Equip Stuff [and I don't care any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ more!]

Another player said I could do this with the Trade interaction menu, but that's simply not true. All I see is Store, Take All, Inspect, Exit, and Sort—there is NO option that allows me to tell Dogmeat to wear the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ collar and armor I stole for him.

And the ONLY way I can get settlers to equip something—anything—is to take ALL the weapons they possess and give them different—better ones.

You should be able to equip them exactly like you do it for your followers. [T] is the default key for that.

I am equipping stuff to my settlers and followers all the time and I should not have any mod that changes the behaviour of the default system. I just checked to be sure that I haven't forgotten any.

For me it is T. If I say to the settler to trade the window of their equipment opens up. If you give them a piece of cloths/armor, and once it is in thier inventory, I just highlight it and hit T to equip. This T also unequips.

Now sometimes the clothing item will not be seen in the inventory so you may need to swap out some cloths to get it to show in the inventory. Good luck.

There ISN'T any "T" option, for example, with Nick Valentine, only the options I've already detailed, and I've NEVER been able to get "followers" to equip anything.

I have done you know harm and I am trying to help. There was absolutely no need to go spamming my screenshot comments like that. They weren't shared to nag you, but as a proof that this indeed doable.

I gave Piper one of my melee weapons and told her to use it from the same button.

I have modded UI, so your UI might look different. However, simply hovering the mouse over the given item should allow you to tell companion to equip/unequip it by using [T].

I wasn't spamming you. You need to learn what "spamming" really is. NOTHING I did was remotely related to Super-Prolific Advertizing Mail. Since you chose to display these items as "answers," I was fully entitled, properly so, to refute them on factual bases. It's not SPAMMING—it's LOGICAL.

You have a very nasty way of thanking people trying to help you. I have replied to several of your questions before. I thought that I had been helpful and polite enough not to reserve this sort of behavior from you.

The previous screenshot you shared didn't show you hovering over item in follower inventory, as it is done in my pictures. The option appears only then.

Furthermore, not every item can be applied to Nick Valentine. His race is different from a human and not all items have the required flag to apply the content for him.

This is a vanilla feature, not added by any mod. If you do not see the option to equip all items for a standard human follower, then something is off in your game. Either a mod is causing an issue, or your files need to be validated.

Mass posting repetitive comments and thus creating pointless announcements for several people isn't exactly a good behavior.

Furthermore, thanking others trying to calmly help you - despite your actions - by attacking them really goes to nasty side.

Let's leave there. I presume you now know how to deal with the issue. Just give the item to character and hover the mouse over it for option to appear. You can't do that for Nick with all items, unless they have a proper flag for his unique race.

Wow dude, come on. People came to your thread to HELP you, yet you did nothing but be completely aggressive. Imagine if you were throwing up in the middle of the street, someone came to help you out and you just kept shouting at them that they were wrong. I genuinely don't see how you can unironically call someone foul-tempered.
