Just now, Nick came up to me and gave me a bit of his Life Story. Neat.
Anyway, I re-checked his Affinity and it is now at 778, so it seems that it rebounded without issue and whatever I'm doing (did some Quests, Building up a couple of Settlements) he seems to Like it and the game is working 'OK' now.
Just in case it helps anyone else, just wait a bit if this happens to you - perhaps there was something in the game that needed it at Zero for a time, perhaps it was the Plot Point of what I did with the Institute, and that triggered a 0 setting, which might have been needed for triggering the Talking Point [of him giving me crap heh] - I don't know for sure of course, but in case anyone ever runs into Companion Affinity showing up as Zero; just wait a bit, perhaps it will iron itself out.
Marking as Solved (..and leaving it up, if that's alright with the Mods). HTH
In case you're not aware, you must do Nick's personal quest before you can reach max affinity with him and get his perk.
I figure you already know that but, it was all I could think of to post on the subject.
*In my game Nick is still in DC waiting for me to take him as a companion. I'm gonna have to get around to that one of these days. :)
To fill things in, Nick was already at about 500'ish - then he got after me for choosing the Institute... I hadn't seen Nick for a while, but I took him back on as a Companion and boy did he get upset for a second.
I just had the idea to 'check' what the Affinity was for him at that time. It read as Zero lol
I assume now that it is just a temporary thing, as it went up/was back to over 700 a while later. Just now, I finished his Storyline Quest and got his Perk! Thanks for that reminder though, mate
