Odds of finding an instigating disciples blade?
Hello!

Im sorry I been talking so much about this weapon but I really would appreciate this info.

If I keep the disciples I should get one very easily and achieve the build I really want.

Otherwise, Id like to know how hard is to get a drop like that... personally I never looted a disciples blade much less one with a legendary trait.

You can't farm specific weapons let alone specific traits. Every legendary enemy will drop from a loottable that is dependend from its level (radroaches won't drop gauss rifles, deathclaws won't drop pipe pistols). So your odds of finding an instigating disciple blade is next to nothing. You need to bee very lucky.
The only guaranteed legendary enemy is remember is a sentry bot near or after the end of the Automatron dungeon. In my normal difficulty run i savescummed long enough to get an instigating gauss rifle (best weapon in the game for a sneak sniper), but even that cost me dozens of tries.

I guess I will stick with the disciples and dump the operators then...

Farming specific items is hard...
Odds of a random legendary being a disciple blade (if you are level 40+) is 0.635%
Odds of it having the right melee ability is 1 in 31.
So overall 0.0205%
If you farm ~5000 legendaries you will have a good chance of finding one.

Wowwww... that would be so hopeless!

Thanks for telling me!

You can raise that to 100% by using console commands.
Hit the ~ key (to the left of the 1) on your keyboard in game and type in the following (except XX witll have to be replaced with 01 02 03 04 05 or 06. It requires some experimentation.:

player.additem xx01aabc 1

items from the DLC will have different values for XX. With me, for instance, if it's an item from Far Harbor, I have to use 03 and Nuka World uses 06.

The rest has been copied from Fallout.wikia.com/wiki/egendary_weapon_effects
This is a great page to look up lots on the game, including walkthroughs, but even better it has the game file ID numbers for items on their own pages.
The form ID you'll need for the instigating perk is 1f04b8

Legendary effects can be added to items through the console by following the next steps:

Drop the item on the ground.
Pick up the item in the air by holding E (how you would normally drag ragdoll and other objects around).
Open console and enter "GetPlayerGrabbedRef." This returns the RefID of the item you're holding in the air.
Take note of the returned RefID.
Look up the ModID below for the desired legendary weapon effect, note it as well.
Enter the following in the console (substitute the appropriate RefID and ModID): [RefID].amod [ModID]
For example, you would enter in something like this: f00726b.amod 001cc2ac.
The item will drop to the ground, and when you go to pick it up, you will get an overview similar to the one you get when you pick up any given legendary item for the first time.

I'm assuming you have all the DLC (so all DLC abilities and items added to the random legendary item pool).
There are a lot of combinations.
Given that most base items are junk and most abilities are junk, the odds of something you want showing up are low.
But if you just run around shooting everything you come across for long enough, you will eventually get good stuff.

If you know how to farm legendary items it can be done. If you know if your prefix can spawn on a legendary and know the weapon can drop ya, I done the farm but it took me hours of non-stop grinding. Because for a non-vats builds you don't want to side with Disciples. I'm going for melee/rifleman sneak build. But the odds of getting it to drop without farming? Most likely won't ever see it. I also had to pass up on a instigating super sledge doing the farm lol

Quote from The Hunter on youtube:

"Every time you farm a weapon its prefix is removed from the loot pool, there's about 30 prefixes in total and you'll remove a prefix every time get a legendary weapon, however when you get down to about 4-5 prefixes the list will refresh, you can test your loot pool by farming and once you've locked in any melee weapon see if instigating is dropping for you, if its not there then dont bother trying to farm an instigating cutlass, and if instigating is in your loot pool then don't take the weapon you tested on and go and start farming for your cutlass."
