As for things you can miss out on, there are a series of arena fights you can do which will ultimately net you a unique gatling laser. Just leave Nuka World for a few days then travel back and a fight should be ready for you.
Also, make sure to get Gage's perk before turning on the raiders, if you haven't already.
So build anything you think you'll want in a settlement before turning on the raiders. The items will still be there when you take it over and can be used by regular settlers, but you'll lose those items forever if you scrap or store them.
Also, if you do have any tribute chests already built, I suggest moving them somewhere no-one can easily get to them. NPCs can try to access them for better weapons during battle, which for some reason causes the game to instantly crash (tribute chests are apparently more than just an ordinary container).
