Robot builds.
I finally completed the robot dlc and got lots of new mods and parts :D

There are a lot of guides telling to go for meelee, go for ranged, go for a mix of both, sentry for outdoors, assaultron for speed, theres a lot of stuff!!!

Its so fun, I only wish I had enough resources to try all mods.

Would you guys mind sharing some tips? Stuff like, staggering build, the best mod (hacking, lockpicking etc), or even advice on which robot to pick for specific situations?

Well, since robots level with the player, pretty much any weapons you give them will overpower most enemies after a certain level.

The provisioner robots I send in the wilderness are usually equipped with heavy weapons such as gatling lasers or rocket launchers, but the domestic robots I built to tend to settlement activities are armed with less destructive weapons, like melee parts.

If I ever played with companions I might be able to help :P

Note that robots are pinned at 50 happiness in settlements, so don't use them as settlers it you want 100 happiness.
(You can spam the Rogue Robot quest for real settlers, whenever it spawns more than 1 bot, there will be 3 settlers nearby you can recruit. These settlers with allow you to exceed your charisma cap too, so you can theoretically have 1000 man settlements...)

Robots are better at fighting than normal settlers will be, probably make good provisioners...

My Current Ada build, I guess you would call "Suppression":
Robobrain head (Hydralic armour)
Robobrain Torso (Front and rear Voltaic frame armour) + Regeneration field
Sentry Left and Right arm (Voltaic Fram armour) Minigun left arm, Gattling Laser Right arm
Assaultron Legs (Voltaic frame armour)

This build needs you to have high Charisma for the "Inspirational" perk as when your companion decides to light something up, they tend to do it with you in the way. So to save yourself from needless selfinflicted deaths, perk up ;)

I'm just glad you don't have to supply the ammo, you'll see why if you ever build one this way.
As you'll notice Voltaic is used a lot to boost the Gattling Laser, and the miniguns used to spray anything that has energy resistance.

I tried a few other builds such as with Robobrain treads but the Assaultron legs work the best for navigation and speed.

Get Inspirational and equip the robot with dual mini nuke launchers - that should sort out most combat encounters.
Kalsu Aug 27, 2018 @ 3:53pm
Sentry head with carnage mod
Sentry chest with 2 nuke launcher
Assaultron legs
Assaultron left arm with hammer-saw
Sentry right arm with explosive minigun
All in Hydraulic armor. Watch the carnage.

If you're worried about friendly fire , replace the nuke with gas and the explosive minigun with a normal one.
Make sure you got the perk to negate companion damage on you ;P

Hey guys, what about those nuka world weapon mods? They are so expensive in terms of nuclear material. I wonder if they are any good... theres even a quantum one... I wonder what it shoots.

Up to you, which is great - there are so many choices, you can make any type you want...

Do you want to take a melee Companion with you?
Do you want a fast-firing laser or bullet cannon as a Sentry at a Settlement?

Tons of options, it totally depends on what you feel like at the time.

To answer your question about Nuka - they are usually slow-moving, arcing 'bombs' - for example, the Quantum one shoots a blue bottle that explodes in a little mini-nuke blue mushroom cloud lol
I really like the Nuka ones personally, as after the enemy dies (or one nearby), the Automatron will still shoot one or two shots - and so the bodies go flying when the little suckers explode! Haha

Wow really? That sounds so fun! Gotta try that haha.

Sadly I need 7 ppoints in Cha and another 3 or 4 in Inspiring Leader? I need around 10 points to make robots viable in terms of damage. Its a long way.

Even though there are endless possibilities I go for only 3 combinations

1) Melee Assaultron - SInce assaultrons have short engagement range they are best suited for Melee..So any ranged weapons attachment are useless..The Assaultron Head laser is though by far the most accurate ranged weapon..So I basically go with Assaoltron Head laser, Assaultron torso with a Shieskebab ( for bonus Burn damage) and the Saw ( bonus bleeding damage) attachments. add in Tesla field for bonus energy damage and you've got a badass killing machine.

2) Robobrain Sniper - RObobrain heads have very high engagement range and are best suited for Sniper robots..though this is the one I rarely use as im not really into sniper gameplay...

3) Gatling Lasers Sentry - Sentry Robot torso on a Mr Handy thruster with 2 Gatling Laser attachments..Throw in any other mods like tesla / regeneration field etc, doesn't really matter..

Also I never go for the RObobrain treads or Sentry legs for robots that i intend to take as companions as they will constantly lag behind and also block doors etc because of their size.

I also Use a mod called " SERVITRON" which allows you to build a female Assaultron and can be assigned the fightstyle of any Companion. These Servitrons can have 100's of paintjob combinations and can be equipped with some selected outfits like the french maid. They move, behave, fight like humans.

If you have the Nuka WOrld DLC you can get additional Mods like Space sentry, Nuka torso and more

For me the only ones i use are :

Worker drones - Protectrons, standard with laser claws instead of the pure melee claws. Used for automated work in settlements (salvage stations, artillery, food, etc)

Security drones - Sentry bots, maxed energy damage/armor. set on patrol routes with guard posts (rarely used, too high material costs for minimal defense boost.. but very useful in battles)

Companion drones/security drones - Assaultrons, maxed melee and armor. Usually with stealth blades or shiskababs. Between the head laser and melee damage they work extremely well

Now and then I'll tinker around with the others and random builds (sometimes I use handy's as my worker drones)

Yah, heh - here's a one-shot (well actually two at once) of how the Quantum Nuka Launchers look when fired (by The Codsby)

As can be seen, the Nuka Launcher explosion/'mushroom' is much smaller than a regular Mini-Nuke explosion, but still almost as tall as the shed beside the Taffington Boathouse.

Wow! It is really a murshroom cloud! So cool! A good match for a robobrain... ray? Its the same color :D

I wish I could get all the ... nuka world mods, I mean,, to make them look white and gold. I think all I got are legs and hand lasers?

Oh, you get more Nuka bot parts as you kill them and loot them. If you opted for Shutting Down the Automatrons in the Galaxy Zone, you may not see their parts in the Robot Workbench list yet. Try completing the entire Nuka-World questline (either one/path), and see if they show up ((I haven't tried this but I want to know if it works... sometime I'll try it too)).
If the Nuka bot parts don't show up in the list, even after finishing all Nuka-World quests, try killing a few Nuka-bots and they will drop their parts ["that you learn from, how to build"] then.
If you really don't want to kill bots in the Galaxy Zone, there are some in the Junkyard behind it, that you 'have to' kill... GL

I don't like nuka robot, because it's just make mess everywhere, harder to loots. provisioner robot may be buggy when cell is changed, I recall, do they fix that? (know company, unlikely) for provisioner, better off settler do that, ensure no bug, limited to one or two settlement full of robot but no where other due happy limited. That's would I normal do.
