Best destinations for USAF Station Olivia's Sentry Bot?
I've noted that using this bot can be kinda buggy¹. Most people assign the bot to take out the raider scum occupying the installation where the locket is located, inside the red toolbox, but there are four choices.

I was thinking it might be a good idea to send him elsewhere, a place where the enemies are tough, higher-leveled. I'd like to hear from people who have chosen to send "him" to South Boston Checkpoint, Revere Satellite Array, or FT Hagan.

¹ The bug I've seen is he never makes it to the assigned destination; he gets stuck going back and forth, as if you had not given him an assignment.

That's why I send him to Olivia first. It's closest and at early levels he sometimes comes back. Albeit, smoking, sparking, half broken and overheating every 5 feet! As a side note, he won't always trigger the mole rats attack at Olivia either. I've gone in there, only to find that half of them spawned, while the other half were torn to shreads next to their holes.

His patrol will only get him there. But, he will engage anything that attacks him. So, at Olivia, for instance, the one last guy that hides in the bunker entrance? He will still be there and the sentry bot will have already returned to the junkyard. This is the one case that it's better if you are not in the cell that he is in, just to give him help in surviving and NOT sparking/triggering additional enemies that could kill him!

All of this, of course is possible, IF, he doesn't bug out, or get stuck in a non-navmeshed area or just tp's to the room for missing npc's.

Wow. This sentry bot is really bugged. I was going to follow him to Fort Hagan, but he got stuck at a fence and vanished right before my eyes.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I usually self destruct it for the 3 fusion cores.

So, maybe he'll turn back up, maybe he won't.

Trying to follow someone you assign to a different settlement usually ends up with them walking to the edge of the cell, then being disabled. This is a big problem with the level 4 merchants as well.
If you aren't in survival, you could open console, click on it to get its RefID, travel to where ever you want it to be, then bring up console again and type:
moveto player
I had to do this for all the level 4 merchants to get them to not just disappear on me.
(I killed that bot because I didn't know you could keep him :( )

If he is already disabled, look up the RefID on the wiki and RefID.enable, then use RefID.moveto player instead.

"Everybody" and his brother says you can get the IDs for things in console and "clicking on" object of desire, but only one ID ever comes up for me—the same ID for every single gameworld object—so, for some reason I can't fathom, this hack won't work on my game. And, yes: I've verified file integrity. This isn't a problem for me; unless it involves an obstacle to completing a mission, I cease caring about it when it doesn't work.

Brief resurrection…
…due to getting an answer to one subtopical question via gameplay:

The bumbling sentry bot that vanished the last time I attempted to follow him to Fort Hagan did indeed survive. However, instead of killing the raiders and evil bots occupying the installation, it seems he had become friendly to them, so I had to kill him.

Bad programmers, I guess—every maladjusted robotic intelligence has one.

Pathing issues aside, this bot was intentionally "bugged" by the devs of this game. Look at a few Youtube vids about it...

You would not think that you'd get a second piece of legendary gear after the first (power armor) at low level without some kind of kink or defect, did you?
Jurassic Fart 1 Aug 30, 2018 @ 5:47pm
@ Eagle: Not to be…less than friendly, but your response rather confused me, on more than one point:

1. "Look at a few YouTube videos about it." Really. Why on Earth—and how—might I do that? More to the point, WHY? You seem to be making assumptions that I actually do not understand. In being "coy" or "clever," you succeed admirably in cloaking your genuine intent. Congratulations! Color me Puzzled.

2. I have literally NO fecking idea what you're going on about with legendary gear and power armor, especially with your intimation I'm expecting something that I'm not entitled to, like some privileged little snot who thinks he gets EVERYTHING just because he bought the game.

Rather than indulge in weak and ineffective passive-aggressive tactics that actually disguise what the bloody Hell you really mean, why don't you just come out and SAY what's on your mind? I rather strongly suspect you to be a troll setting out bait to incite an inflammatory response.

That won't happen. Not on my watch. I'm not trying to impress anyone, nor am I trying to self-aggrandize. I don't have anything to "prove." If you can't answer the questions plainly, I'm not going to "feed the troll;" I'll put you on my "No-Fly List," adding you to a number of proven trolls that I will ignore in the future.

Of course, this could be a tragic misunderstanding…but, I rather doubt it, seeing as how I am professionally literate, despite my autism.

Okay, I see. So you're a troll. Blocking you now.

I'm true to my word. This question has already been answered, so I'm unsubscribing. Now I see you're starting to follow me from thread to threrad, so, 'nuff said. The proof is in the gruel.

kittehoverlord = kindred spirit of proven troll. Thanks for the warning. Now, since you've permanently poisoned this thread with malice aforethough, I'm unsubscribing. Thanks for being a total prykke, ya fekkin' rat-bastidge.
