Sim Settlements Mechanist’s lair crash
So an odd thing has happened where every time I enter the mechanist’s lair, whether it’s through fast travel or the front door, my game crashes. This only started happening when my settlement reached level 2, it worked just fine when it was at level 1. Does anyone know a possible fix?

Try to reduce the number of threads used for settlements, under Performance settings of the holotape.

Try values below 5.

How can I do that, it may be obvious but I’m on my phone at the moment and not in game

It is quite obvious in the game.

Open your City Manager 2078 Holotape and select Performance from it. The option to tweak multithreading settings can be found under it.

Here is the wiki section of this feature:

My game still seems to crash even when it’s all the way down to 1 multi thread

Can you roll back on a save and turn off the autoupgrade for settlements? I just checked our forum and you are not the only one having problems with this settlement.

Otherwise I can only recommend trying other options from the Performance settings. They may allow you to enter and manage the settlement.

More information from this post. Kinggath's method didn't fix the problem for this player, but it might help you to pull through.

Unfortunately going back a save isn’t an option as the save before I started the settlement has a 2 day difference, also that player you linked is also me

Oh, sorry. I was replying to another question at the same time and didn't notice the name.

Unfortunately I don't have any more ideas than KG had. I am part of the Support Team, but KG knows the functions far better than I do.

I think the part of the problem here is that it is an interior cell. That creates more challenges than exterior areas.

Forum really is the best place to sort this out. I will poke other SS support team and staff, but it might be that this specific settlement might need some optimizing from the development team.

Well thank you anyway, I hope there will be a patch that will help this issue but it is just one settlement anyway

Well honestly your issue was something there was no answer to previously. I tried multiple times trying to figure out how to do anything remotely to deal with the settlement crashes, even including moving the workbench to you. The only previous fix was to roll back a save, which sucks brahminshit through a silly straw as a solution.

You people used a plan that had a bug in it. Until previously there was no way to "get back into the settlement" to undo what the change was.

With Chapter 2 and Headquarters there is a new feature to remotely edit plots. Of course you kinda of need to know which plot caused the issue. If it is evne a plot issue, because most plots have been tested and played out.

There is a mission in Logistics to execute a city plan, but I think that is just for uncrowned settlements. Unless you could remotely change ownership....which I would need to remember where and how to do that remotely.

So it aint the fact nobody wanted to help you, just nobody had a good solution.

I don't use it anymore. It was cool for a while but you really need to be cautious about the build limit, which area the settlements are in and their surrounding areas etc... not to slam anyone who does use it, but i'm kinda over it. I can either ignore settlements utterly and still have a good run, or i can build minimal things in each spot in 5-10 minutes per.

How do you go over the build limit in mechanist lair? It is an interior cell.

Sim Settlement City Plans have bugs that cause crashes when settlements reach certain levels. One of the reasons I avoid using plans. Both of these people came forward and said their city plan bugged out. It has nothing to do with build limits.
