A Safe base to store my stuff and power armor with or without settlers
Hello, With FO 76 coming out, i decided to replay FL4 but this time i bought a season pass in which i'm glad i did.
But on to the topic, i need a place to store all my loot (not junk) I end up losing my stuff (weapons, ammo, and even the power armor) to settlers taking them when they get attacked.

Making me lose stuff i wanted to keep using. I know taking out the fusion core from the power armor is 1 thing, but i had various legendary weapons that settlers somehow took from my stash and now i can no longer find them. >:(

They even depleted my ammo for specific weapons :(
Is there a safe place for my self alone in which i can store my stuff without the fear of settlers taking them or raider's stealing them?
I see Red Rocket in the in game main menu, is that a good place to keep, or do i need to bar of everything? Or is it just wise to go to a settlement without settlers?

over 500 hours in it and never seen it get attacked.

why do your store ammo? it has no weight. dont store the ammo and they wont take the weapos and use it. i never had issues where they take weapons and stuff from me but have you tried to trade them after and see if they have it?
if you bought the season pass build a concrete door with power doors.. disconnect the power and door wont open. dont just build the doorway it has to have the power doors

if you have a fav companion have them store everything they can hold unlimited amounts of everything. just command them to loot items and they will pick it up.

i just drop a few raiders or w.e, loot them all save 1 for last, store all the stuff u dont want on u in it, command companion to keep looting it, wait for them to stop speaking after ea commend then do it again untill all items are picked up.

then you can go anywhere and sell w.e u need after u withdraw it from them.

prob not what you;re looking for but both those options will help you

I just build containers next to workstations. If space is an issue you can stack some of them like the cooler and there is also the wall version. But for ultimate safety the Home Plate (your Diamond City place if you buy it) is probably best. I haven't had any issues with it though.

Edit: And yes, the Mechanist place is another good one.

One for sure way to keep settlers from taking your stuff, is to store it in a settlement that doesn't have any settlers in it. There are 37 settlements with all DLC. Pick one you want to call your Home, Safe Harbor or just plain Get Away.

just build a concrete bunker with an electrical door and NO INTERACTION ITEMs in it, deploy some crates in it, and you are good. and yes this is save in an unmodded game, no matter how much trolls tell you settlers will steal out of that boxes. they cant get inside the room as long you dont let the door stand open or installed anything that has an interaction animation for npc (means no workbenches, bed, chair aso. )
giving you settlers good arnament will also block them from take you stuff, they will only take weapons when they see them as an upgrade to what they have, and compatible ammo must be avaible as well (must no even be in the same container, they know when another container holds matching ammo) . remember one settlement defense where gunners ( a few more, and mostly armed with laser pistols) attacked hangmans, when the fight was over most of the corpses i lootet where already plundered fro there weapons, and many of my settlers run around with laser after that....
PA is ever save as long u dont let the startkey (aka Fusion Core) in it or have FCs in a reachable storage.

After almost 2 hours of going back and forth moving my stuff. I decided to turn the mechanics lair into my cave :D Everything is there now. And also i have equiped all of the settlers with high rank gear, armor and weapons. So they are safe :) Ty for the tips.

You can't store non-junk items at any location. Sure, the dumb AI will allow you to transfer such assets without generating helpful error messages, but when you come back, only JUNK is there. You just kissed your legendaries permanently good-bye.

…At least when I tried it, that's what happened.

The settlers aren't supposed to be able to steal your stored crap anyway, but like the other guys say, pick an unpopulated location—there are plenty—and remember where you put it. Load up your companions with stuff you want to keep—not junk; you can get that crap anywhere. Settlers can suffer permadeath, but not companions—just make sure you don't permanently alienate them, or getting your crap back could be problematic.

I find that fortifying the CRAP out of a couple of settlements—and stocking their inhabitants with legendary non-mass-destruction weapons works wonders. I haven't gotten a cry for help in days. Don't give them missile launchers or Fatboys or grenades of any kind—those idiots will take heavy friendly-fire casualties. Connie Abernathy may not be alive to trade the next time you return to their farm…and there goes your 500-cap investement.

I personally just put a stash into an unreachable position, like on a roof, and then delete and rebuild the access as needed.

…Oooooh. I wouldn't try that, "storing" your stuff in a non-secure location by just dropping it on some random hard-to-reach place. Item persistence in this game is good, but it's not that good. Plus, I've played plenty pf games where enemy NPCs can navigate terrain that you can't…even inside places that require new map loading, like when you enter a warehouse.

Short-term experimentation wouldn't provide definitive proof…and I just want to get on with having fun, 'cause this gameworld is really complex, lots of crap to do.

Mechanist's Lair is a good base (My fav in fact) but other option are the Logistics Station plot for Sim Settlements (Which includes a logistics locker that shares across settlements which you can also attach to a workbench thus getting Supply Line Functionality) and the Bunker 1 Container Cloud Storage[www.nexusmods.com] items which have a similar effect sans Sim Settlements.

Since both of these are scripted containers Settlers can't use them. I like to use them to complement each other - e.g. keeping holotapes and cash in a cloud safe, but resources in the Logistics locker et al.

My preference is to use a settlment such as Red Rocket early on because it has most of what you need immediately. Just add a few storage containers, maybe some weapon racks and your pretty much set.

Later on, I agree with the Mechanist's lair.
