Security cameras not working
I just got the settlement ambush creation club content and when I place a security camera and the monitors I cant look through the cameras. Every time I interact with the security monitor it allows me to select the location, and then when I click on it a message pops up saying I dont have any cameras installed. I made sure that all cameras were powered. I looked online and cant find this glitch anywhere else. Can someeone help me to trouble shoot this?

Creation Club...... that is the problem.

just a dumb down reminder is the video consoles link to the same power as the video cameras?
if not this might be the issue.

to have component register between each other in fallout 4:
all must be connected to the same powerline or at leats link at some point.

that is power supplies+ consoles+ cameras must sit on the same connector line interlinked together

you can move spread mulitiple connector lins, it just must be serial and or parallel linked to get it to connect.

if console and camera are not on same powerline, they will never find each other, because they simply not connected..

internal house power is not recommanded:

internal house conenct have bug to not identify all units connected to house power.
this bug ocurs when some parts not properly linked up.
where you then manualy need use conduits to force connection.

better draw a wire to be sure they find each other.

Yeah they are connected to the same power source. I have tried running them in series and in parallel. The two locations I tried were at the castle and starlight drive-in. When I interact with the monitors, I see both of those locations, but when I try to see the video from one of them then it gives me a message saying "You don't have Security Cameras installed in any of your settlements." I also have to close it out twice because when I close it out a second one pops up afterward which really makes me think its a bug.

I have the exact same problem. Set up and power cameras. Go to look at them, select the settlement and get the error message that I don't have any cameras in any settlements. But I get that error multiple times, once for each camera I have set up. Definitely a glitch in the content.

If you deleted, scrapped or disabled the workshop workbench the cameras will have that error at any settlement you removed them from!

I'm getting this bug, right after getting the Slocum's Joe pack, and I not only have never scrapped a workshop (affects me in both Red Rocket and Sanctuary), but I don't have a mod (Scrap Anywhere etc) that allows me to.

Sorry for the necropost, but this is still happening. Hope it can be solved.

I never ran into this issue myself.

Make sure your cameras are all on the same power circuit. Meaning you can trace the wiring from one to the next. The viewing console has no wiring connector, but should try placing it around that same circuit.

Well, it definitely worked before I installed the Slocum's Joe creation, and I didn't move my cameras around at all; they're definitely on the same circuit to the monitors. I posted something in the Nexus Discord hoping that someone there could help out; I'll paste what I said:

Hey all  Have an issue with the Creation Club Settlement Ambush Kit, on FO4. The security cameras worked great all the times I've used them through several sessions, but then I decided to also get the Slocum's Joe pack, and now the security camera monitor is telling me (twice) that I don't have any security cameras installed at any of my settlements, which is very false :)

I've tried to store and re-place the cameras and the monitor setup, and place a new one down... these don't solve the issue at all. There are no updates to either the Ambush System or the Slocum's Joe available which might fix this issue.

Could it be a mod conflict? I don't see how at all since it was working before I installed another Creation and those have been worked on to ensure compatibility with each other, I'd think... shrugs

I have both CC items and it did not have an issue.

The only camera bug I know of is if you import a settlement or use a settlement plan then the cameras you get do not function.

Did you exit the game and launch it again after adding it?
EazyCheeze1978 Nov 5, 2019 @ 1:42pm
I did indeed, and it still didn't work - however, I discovered that one of the mods I use, Beantown Interiors, had an update for CC content long ago and I had never updated... I'm going to try again now that I have :)
EazyCheeze1978 Nov 5, 2019 @ 1:50pm
Nope, didn't solve it... That is SO weird that that would happen! And sad because I liked spying on my settlements. Ah well, can always use the raid system when I want to blow off steam, I guess :)

Yeah I use the camera all the time to fake the game into thinking I visited the settlement for defense fights, letting new settlers auto assign to jobs, and for Sim Settlement updates (since new upgrades require a visit.)

Only other thing I could suggest trying is to scrap (not store) all your video items and build them again. Then test them before leaving the settlement.

I wish I could be more help because the cameras are a useful tool. However nobody has come back and said if or how they fixed it.

I did find one cause, having security cameras in storage (aka you picked them up and are holding them for later use in the workshop) and then scrapping a camera will cause the bug.

I think that the best way to fix camera glitches, is to make it require one unit of energy, instead of static connection, THOUGH even it's requires wire cable connected to work AND simultaneously gaining energy from other wires though they not in the wire cable lines, but using the same power source makes it the same grid.
P.S. I hope the guy above me is right, i'm gonna check it out now!
Update: As the problem still persists, only one camera is facing the right direction. The reasons about that are unknown. Surely, the cameras will face the same direction each time, or the problem are with the axis, i simply dunno.

The same applies if you try to import a settlement with security cameras. The import/export tools do not support exporting the scripts from the settlements.

In other words, someone needs to make a mod that allows you to refresh/remove the camera scripting.

If you are using Place Everywhere try pushing:
- F1 to toggle off snap to object.
- F2 to toggle off snap to surface.
