f4se Isn't working
F4se will not work for me. I've been trying to get it to work for almost three weeks now. Its probably the stupidest detail I'm missing but I seriously need help. I have waited until I exhausted all of my options before asking cause I know people get grumpy with others asking for help.

Things I've tried

fresh fo4 installs, i.e deleting all traces, removing from my C: drive entirely, emptying my recycle bin (several times)

I've watched every video I could find relating to f4se in 2018 and even some of the videos from the past years

I know this might sound stupid but....

Are you launching the game with F4SE.exe? Or are you launching the game through Steam?

Launching through Steam will not start the F4SE unless you edited your Steam files to use the F4SE.

I'm launching it with F4SE. I've tried launching it right from inside the Fallout 4 folder, and nmm.

What version of NMM are you using? Their auto-update is... not dependable. Might have to update it manually. Change that. Most likely will have to update it manually.

Autoupdate not dependable => Nexus no longer supporting NMM. At all.

Only place to get NMM updates is the project's GitHub page.

This is incorrect. I have never run the game or F4SE as admin and it works fine.

A couple things.

Are you using the archive or the installer? I have heard of people having problems with the installer version. Using the archive I have never had an issue. After you download the archive, right click on it, go to Properties. In the lower right corner there may be a checkbox labled "Unblock". Check that, hit APPLY, and then OK.

Is your game in the Program Files directory structure? I have also heard of people having issues with the game located there.

Since you didn't mention it, Gopher has a F4SE install video that seems pretty foolproof:

Don't use NMM, use MO2 instead. I used to experience alot of issues with NMM since it is being worked on by a small group. All of my mods work better with MO2 and i don't experience any issue at all.

If you have admin priveleges for your whole system, like I do and apparently as Chef does, you don't need to run as admin, but not everybody has that set. So they need to use the run as admin sometimes. Not everybody's system is set up the same way.

Knowing what your operating system is and other details would help a lot.
