You can start Nuka World or Far Harbour right after leaving the Vault, and of the two Nuka World is far more challenging.

Automatron lvl 20
Far Harbor lvl 30
Nuka World lvl 40

Dunno about that. At level 100, Automatron was harder than Nuka World but Far Harbour was tougher than both.

At around level 50 I did them in that order(Auto/FH/NW). Auto was pretty easy, except for the last fight. FH was also pretty easy, NW a little tougher.

Not sure what you mean by "in the most challenging way possible".

I bought the GOTY edition and didn't even realize Automatron was DLC. I just blundered into it right out of the gate and didn't have any problems getting through it. Pretty much the first quest line that I did.

As for the other two I put them off until much later because it was obvious they were separate.

The mobs in the DLC are going to scale to your level. Higher level melee and beam automatrons get downright nasty enough to one shot you in X-01f power armor.

And it's possible to avoid the last fight, though hardly anyone does.

far harbor is set up for level 15+
nukaworld is set up for higher level.
It will be harder if you go there early, but can be done.
(It depends a bit on difficulty setting and how well geared/optimized your character is, however once you get to level ~30+ this game gets pretty easy regardless.)

You can beat automation as early as level 20 taking advantage of the robotics perk rank 2.

But his won’t be enough in the final fight.

After you find the elevator override holotapes being nick with you just to hack the terminal so you won’t have to get hacker rank 4 then go switch out for ADA and come back.
And you can skip the final fight.

How to cheese your way through a quest 101.

Places Yao Guai cage in Sanctuary Hills surrounded by turrets and fences, opens cage to harvest Yao Guai meat to make Yao Guai Roast, eats it, runs to Dunwich Borers, wreaks havoc while retrieving Kremvhv's Tooth, sprints through DLC like a madlad, eats more Yao Guai Roast, then dies in one hit at level 3.
"You are dead, no big surprise."

Fail, adapt, survive.
