Curie (synth form) is missing
I opened the game where she was my current follower and she wasn't there. I tried picking a new companion and moving her to santuary when it asked where to send her but she wasn't there.

take a look at bunker 81 or better build the stuff to find and locate all your companions.

Missing companions usually re-appear by moving to a different cell: through a door or by fast-travel.

I had a companion disappear for several in-game days before. You can build a terminal from the power>miscellaneous section to place a marker on their current location and track their AWOL butts down.
