Is Fallout 4 an FPS or an RPG?

so i went in gamestop and they asked what kinda games I liked and I said Call of duty and the guy told me i "might like fallout 4", is it really that good guys? Let me know what u think down below im thinkin about picking this game up.

I don't really like RPG games like Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 sound like its the same game so should I get it? Is it an RPG? Role playing is werid imo I just like the action

It's an FPS With light RPG elements. There is no role-playing since your character has a preset backstory. You will enjoy it since it plays like a modern FPS though.

You can play the whole game in FPS view if you like.

FO4 isn't a pure RPG per se, of course there's a scenario, quests, character progression and so on, but the focus is also on exploration, collecting stuff and of course, shooting bad guys in the face.

It's definitely not a Call of Duty though. You might want to check gameplay videos on YouTube beforehand.

Yea ive watched a lot of youtube videos and the guns lookk really cool but yea I heard that the story was really dumb something about ur son gets lost but you have like no reason to go find him because some settlements need your help. Also u can build cool bases and stuff too right?

Is it like COD, absolutely Not.

Is it somewhat similar in gameplay to NV, yes.

But, from reading what you've posted so far, I think you would enjoy the game if you give it a chance. The GOTY Edition is on a pretty good sale in the Steam store.

And, yeah, it can definitely be described as an RPG as well as a FPS game.

If you rather just shoot things - maybe try Borderlands or something.

That said, the game has far more action than FONV. Still you have dialogs etc.

Then maybe at that point he should have recommended paintballing, enlisting with the real military, or getting the fnck out of the store.


But yes.... there is a certain element to Fallout 4 that is like that.... but with the added extra of collecting junk and building ghettos out of it. Since Call of Duty is basically junk, you're already halfway there.

Fallout 4 is an Open World Call of Duty with junk collection and meaningless settlement building :)
