Fallout 4 Script Extender not launching correctly
Just yesterday (06/21/2018) I had launched Fallout 4 to determine its current version, which was 1.10.89.0.0. I looked up the newest version of F4SE to ensure it was for that version of F4, which it explicitly stated was the version F4SE was currently made for. When I launch F4SE, no pop-ups of any sort appear, I get the usual split-second black box, then Fallout 4 launches as normal. When I get into the game, however, is when I begin to notice issues. The only two mods I have installed are the Mod Configuration Menu and Extended Dialogue Interface. Immediately I notice that MCM's menu option is not present in the main menu. I figure, perhaps it is only supposed to appear in-game, though when I load my most recent save (I started a new game, since my old saves got corrupted, long story) which was made just as the Vault-Tech representative asks the player to create their stats and name and such, a rectangle appears in the middle of the screen saying "Fallout 4 Script Extender is not running. Please ensure you loaded Fallout 4 by launching the Script Extender, found in your Fallout 4 installation directory," or something close to that effect; if you've used the F4SE before, I assume you know what I'm talking about. I've checked multiple times to insure all of the versions are correct, checked instructions for installing F4SE, checked that MCM and XDI were installed correctly, and made absolutely sure to launch F4SE through the f4se_launcher.exe file, which was, along with all the other files, placed within my Fallout 4 installation directory. I haven't had this exact issue before, and I've made sure I did everything right. Missing these two mods would not completely inhibit me from playing, but I would very much prefer to have them in place.

As a minor side note, for some odd reason when I launch F4SE, same file, location, and everything, there are rare instances where it will say it is looking for Fallout 4 version 1.10.50. Unsure if this is a glitch or what, but I've made sure to uninstall any previous versions, and have reinstalled the newest version of F4SE multiple times to ensure everything is in place.

UPDATE:

Just tried launching F4SE as administrator, this time around it gave me the "incorrect version" pop-up, told me that MCM would be disabled, but now it seems that XDI is working. I will tinker around with this a bit and see what the problem might be, it doesn't seem like Survival Options is working either.

the F4SE launcher creates a log in your game save directory. Did you have checked these? It might give you a pointer.

I am using MCM and it works fine. I cannot vouch for that dialog mod because I am using another one (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1235). You should be able to run the game with MCM.

Did you get the update for those mods since the Game and F4SE last had updates a few weeks ago? Your mods have to match the current game and F4SE versions.

Yep, I redownloaded the latest shown versions of each of the mods to make sure they were up to date and had all their needed files. I also used LOOT to optimize the load order, and giving a quick glance over the new order, it looks like maybe if MCM and Survival Options were a bit lower it may fix them, however, for some reason, I can't change their position in the order. Also going to try and tinker with load order some, hopefully I'll get some decent results.

If you are using Vortex, NMM's replacement, it does not allow you to manually change your load order. That's why I still use NMM. I'm pretty sure Mod Organizer 2 allows for manually changing the order.

Yeah, I use NMM. Think I figured it out. Moved Survival Options to lower in the load order and redownloaded the newest MCM version just to be safe, apparently something was still missing and now it all works just fine. Next problem to move on to is some pretty sharp framerate drops after certain events... Game runs at almost 60 FPS pretty much constantly, but when I first stepped out of the vault I shot at a couple of exploding tanks just for giggles and the framerate dipped down to like 20 FPS for a solid 45 seconds, seemed to go away after I left the area, but I came back and it was still at 60 FPS. Seems to happen if I shoot something; similar thing happened in Sanctuary when shooting at radroaches, though the framerate only dipped down to 35 that time. Using the ultra high quality texture pack, but I wouldn't think something as minor as killing an enemy or a couple particle effects would cause that much of a performance impact. I'll do some graphics tweaking and see what I can manage. Thanks for your feedback!

you can manually set your load order in Vortex, the interface to do it is a bit combersome

You're welcome.

That HR Texture pack ain't all it's cracked up to be. I suggest getting rid of it by unchecking it in your library DLC for the game. I don't use any, but there are much better texture mods on nexus that don't hurt your fps or take up 54GB HD space.

For your fps drops when shooting problem, Go to the Options menu, then Advanced and turn off "Weapon Debris".

I've read more than once that the creators of Vortex did not and wouldn't be adding the manual load order change function to it.

So, just so I don't continue to give wrong info, are you sure?
