Why does everyone act like previous Fallout games had indepth dialogue options
They were nothing more than "Skip this section of the mission if you have X speech"
Also in Oblivion you could ask NPCs for rumors and directions but nobody bat an eye when Skyrim didn't have this

You're right they didn't, not even New Vegas with its less than a handful of branching dialogue uses did and it the only thing it did different was add skill checks for flavor text or to skip doing something.

Skyrim does have the option to ask NPCs (specifically tavern owners) for the latest rumors....and when it came to various locations, most gave basic directions to get there, albeit, sometimes they were vague directions.

Last time I checked, people's problem with the dialogue in Fallout 4 stems from the fact that it isnt always clear what exactly your character is going to say.

Hence why the dialogue mods are so popular as they simply change the text to show what it is you are going to say.

Depending on how much you are trying to role play, those mods are great.

Still has more depth than Fallout 4 dialogue, which is literally: Yes (Yes), No (Yes), Sarcastic (Yes) and More Questions/Bribe for more caps. Seriously, you can't even say no or ask in-depth questions most of the time. Even Todd howard himself has said Fallout 4 dialogue "does not work as well as other systems." Literally like 90% of the community hated the dialogue wheel of fallout 4.

You have to be blind and deaf in order not to notice the differences in dialogue between New Vegas and Fallout 4.Hell,even Fallout 3 for that matter.

And im not even going to mention Fallout 1 and 2.

Well, Skyrim wasn't much better in this regard, yet was still a much lauded game. The best writing was probably in New Vegas, a game with which - ironically - Bethesda didn't have much involvement.

I wont agree with You, as NV story was boring and ♥♥♥♥ like every other Fallout story, except that it had some more in-depth towards lore and events happening compared to other titles.
Problem with new vegas though is that it got put on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, most boring map ever created in fallout universe. Onyly 2 redeeming things about new vegas mapscape is lonesome road and dead money DLCs.

New Vegas has objectively the most nonsensical plot unless you follow the Mr. House path.

Exactly my thoughts.
Fallout 3, Nv and Fallout 4 all have terrible "Roleplay" and dialogue options.
They were never excellent pieces of work in that regard.
I'd like them to be, but theyre not.

Simply based on a lack of standards.

F4 answers basically boiled down to "enthusiastic yes, exasperated yes, smartass yes, or I'll be back to say yes later." Previous games may not have been incredible masterpieces of branching storylines and epic consequences, but F4 just kinda threw it out the window, IMHO.
