Exiting/entering power armor gives me super speed.
This doesn't always happen, sometimes I can use power armor multiple times and I'll be just fine. But occasionally my character becomes very fast after interacting with the power armor, and the only way to fix it is to reload an old save. what could be causing this?

I heard turning on v-sync fixes it but that's not true. I also heard it's an fps issue but I don't think so. Because I'm the only thing that gets faster in game. The other NPCs are unaffected.

Any ideas?

PS. This is a recent issue and I haven't installed mods in quite a while so I'm sure there are no conflicts.

See if you have two grenades equiped at the same time. Long shot but that caused me trouble some time ago. It's a bug related to the walk speed penaty for having your weapon unholstered.

Or maybe two weapons, etc etc.

well since I only use frag grenades, I can safely assume that it is not the case. but I'll see if I can consistently replicate this bug and have a better understanding. thanks for answering.

Holster and then unholster weapons as well. If no changes then unequip everything then equip things 1 at a time and see if something triggers it. If that fails then enter the suit remove all of it's armor and exit it. Does reloading a save fix it? If not make a seperate save while the bugf is still in effect then exit the game to desktop and reload that save to see if it still persists in the new save. If this last one is the case then it could be an fps issue as unlocking the fps leads to massive game engine bugs that can be made permanent if saved. Only way to fix that is making sure the fps is capped to no higher than 60 and deleting any affected saves and starting new.

If that doesn't help then perhaps it's mod related as mods do need to be updated from time to time as the game gets updated. Assuming you are using any mods at all.

Provide a mod list if you want and I can do a bit of testing and research.

Edit: I was refering to the walking speed bug and not saying you are experiencing it. In fact replicating the bug is fairly difficult even before the patch that may not have fixed it.

Did you modify your stats in the console?

Running any mods that affect stats?

No, nothing of the sort. I just found out that switching weapons and alt tabbing sometimes fixes the problem. It's not a mod problem that's for sure, and I only use the console to clip through walls when I get stuck.

yeah i've encountered similar issues but its usually a framearte bog down from weapon decals and such. like i'll hit an object, and then my framerate bogs down.

Switching weapons and alt tabbing seems to fix the issue? That's very curious indeed. Get's me to thinking it could be hardware or game engine related.

Bethesda did take the old Gamebryo engine update it a bit and ran with that. It can be a whole lot of derpy from time to time. I digress.

Do you also have any upgrades or legendaries that increase movement speed like overdrive on power armor legs? Apparently they can bug out and become near permanent.

What is your refresh rate set to? The game engine has issues going above 75ish.
Lucifer69 Jul 21, 2018 @ 6:58pm
The game engine has issues going over 60. It's hard capped at 60 but can get as high as 105 depending on the person and setup. It's not an fps issue if only movement speed is affected. Game speed in general gets increased and that increase results in massive instability.

Oh yeah I have overdrive on my right leg. and one of my armor pieces has a 10% movement speed legendary. I also have a mod that makes your armor pieces and power armor's stats stack together. Called Unnaked power armor.

The issue also occurs when I use bullet time, I saw someone on the mod page complain about super speed so I'm thinking this is a good lead. Although the thing is, the problem occurs randomly (as in without using bullet time) too so I'm not sure bullet time is the main reason.

Well is there a way I can lock my fps? just for testing purposes.
I searched in all the ini files and found nothing related to fps.
Lucifer69 Jul 21, 2018 @ 9:34pm
Search for iPresentInterval=1 in the Fallout4.ini and make sure it is "=1". If it's set to 0 that disables the cap. Forcing v-sync and setting the target fps to 60 in you gpu settings will accomplish the same and imo the gpu drivers do a better job of things but that's a story for another time.

Anyways if you don't notice things like grenades being thrown significantly faster or things falling faster it's not the frame rate.

Try disabling the mod and also equipping/ unequipping items with those move speed effects.

Ok. So a mod is the culprit.

" It's not a mod problem that's for sure"
Well, it almost always is.
Lucifer69 Jul 21, 2018 @ 9:40pm
Maybe. It's likely not a mod conflict but rather a bug with one mod in general like your unnaked power armor. It could also be the game engine being derpy.

Start with the knowns like the mod and work from there before we chuck it off to black magic or bathesda. Lol

Edit: Nothing in gaming or modding is random. There's always a trigger, a cause. Just have to snuff it out.
