any mod to snap power conduit tubes along walls/ceilings/floors?
my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OCD kicks in trying to align the tubes and conectors along walls or ceilings, sucks cus i always end up having this small offset that eventually ends up in a big ass open angle 10 feet away from my starting point

i''ve looked through the Nexus with the apropiated tags but there doesn't seem to be a mod that clearly makes those tubes and connectors from power conduits snap along walls, do you guys know of some mod that can fix this?

lol. . . .I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing with you : )

And sadly, no. I haven't found one yet. The only way I had to correct this was to place the long conduit piece along the floor and use a seam or other straight line to get the conduit as close to straight as possible. Sometimes group selecting multiple conduits can give you a better alignment (longer reach).

You can use console to getpos X, getpos Y, getpos Z, setpos X/Y/Z, getangle X/Y/Z, setangle X/Y/Z, etc.

So if it is 10 pixels off X direction, use getpos X to figure out where it is, then setpos X <whatever getpos X was -10 or +10>

If you want to stack walls without floors in between you kind of have to do it that way.
(place wall, place upperfloor, place wall, remove upperfloor, getpos/setpos to remove the gap)

i know myself, i know once i open the console i won't be able not to not use it again, it happened with Oblivion, it happened with Skyrim, it happened with New Vegas and it will happen with Fallout 4

Well, you could just live with slightly off angle beds and not quite even rows of crops :P
Or you could spend hours trying to get the angle exactly right, or....

well, i guess i can do it myself, that's how i learned CreationToolkit for Skyrim, the thing is, watching the guts of the beast spoilers a lot of things

you can also use modangle for each ot the directions to change the angle, so modangle z -10,5 with rotate the object 10.5 degrees counter clockwise. there is also a modpos command so modpos z 3.3 will raise the object 3.3 units up

You are right, that would be easier in many situations.
This is basically using console commands to make up for the limited control you get with object placement in workshop mode.
(getting beds at 90dgrees instead of 88.7degrees or whatever can be annoying)

If your OCD to get all power connectors lined up really bothers you, you could take a different approach. There is at least one nexus mod that adds a switch box size generator to the build menu. You can stick a dozen of them in a large building where they don't show and then you'll only need short wiring to hook up items that need direct wires to them.

I have a switch box generator that a friend made 2 years ago and it works great.{He emailed it to me}

Since then I've seen one on nexus, just search generators if you're interested.

The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question.

Try Place Anywhere's snap to workshop grid. I use it to line things up. Haven't tried conduit tubes, but it works decently for other things, should work.

yeah, conduit tubes are nightmare to align properly, why don't they just pre-lay the lines of ceiling or wall and we can just line the walls up and connect the electronics appliances to it.

alright i'm watching "Place Everywhere" mod which i think that's what you were citing, the title is kinda ambiguos because it makes it look like you can just literally build everywhere like other mods do

while doesn't quite says it snaps everything with everything it has already some utilities i could make use of, this would do until i figure out a better solution

this is a reminder for myself, the fuse box connector for the conduit tubes would be a good choice to practice adding some snapping points

i saw this one Electricity Overhaul mod which is basically a box that generates 1000 energy and it's wireless, i for one who likes complex contraptions and logic gates, easy solutions aren't often the answer

Yea, the mod really undersells itself. It has alot of features. Its really the only settlement utility you will ever need to do pretty much anything and everything.

The snap hot key is f3 or f4, can't remember, but orientation is based off the block you're attaching too.

Edited to add, I don't know why I keep calling it place anywhere..... I've made the mistake enough times I should have remembered by now.

it's mostly because the general vibe you get from the mod's name is that you can go your merry way building anywhere

anyway, F3 from Place Everywhere has Workshop Grid Snapping, is not 100% perfect but damn if it helps, it has some other neat utilities around which i will be definitelly using
