Armor, Weapon, and Chem crafting never requires base items such as junk items and only their materials.
You probably don't want to scrap weapons unless you REALLY need 3 metal off of that legendary weapon, heh.
Are you into settlement building follow scarecrow, do you avoid settlements as much as you can, follow Morgan.. i guess.
Good advice all thx
oh right - the prewar money was already mentioned ;)
Money is made of 75% cotton, and 25% linen. So yeah, you get cloth from money.
"Hoarder", "I collect everything". Just going by those two statements, here's a few random things you might want to know;
1. If you decide you like building in settlements and would like to decorate with more than just the items in the build menu, Every Item in the game that can be picked up can also be put on display. Quest items cannot be dropped from inventory or stored. Some of those quest items Can be dropped, stored or displayed once the quest is finished. Drop items from inventory with R when they are selected in your Pip-Boy. Hold E to pick them up and carry them. Walk when carrying items, do not run or they may fly across the room. To rotate an item you're carrying, hold right mouse. To change the rotation angle, hold the item still and hit left shift.
2. Some items listed as Junk items are unique one of a kind collectibles. For example, the Gilded Grasshopper that you will find later in the game. It scraps into gold But, it looks great placed on display. You will be collecting SO Very much of the same type of junk, that the unique items you find will be easy to recognize.
3. If you have "Junk" items in your inventory that you want to keep, store them in a chest or other type of container placed in a settlement. The reason is because when you're building or using a workbench and don't have enough of a certain materiel that is needed, the game will automatically use items that are in your inventory you have on you. Example is cloth needed to make a sleeping bag, flag, ect. If you don't have enough cloth in your Workshop, the game will use pre-war money from your inventory.
4. Because there's a TON of items in the game, Junk, Misc, Quest items, Armor and Weapons, the Fallout 4 wiki can be Very useful. Here's the wiki page for Fallout 4 items. In the top right of the page there's an index with links to all things FO4. The quest links obviously will contain spoilers, so you may want to avoid those until you think you need info on a particular quest. If you have questions on just 1 quest, you can Google Fallout 4 and the name of the quest. The wiki is usually the first result.

Hope this helps. Have fun with the game.
The only things I sell are crappy armor and lower end pipe weapons. I still get tons of cash, but then, I do love ganking raiders and trappers. Later on, with the right perks, modded pipe weapons yield some pretty nice stuff when you scrap them. Also, you can set up a scrapping station for your settlers to use, or several if you're like me, and they will go out and find useful stuff for you! I don't use any mods, so, it works great for me.
Here? You make money in your house?
