The Molecular Level quest glitch
So i sided with the Brotherhood (for now)
I have just build the teleporter, and my new quest step is, talk to Maxon. but when i try to do that, he just says.
"I don't have time right now, or I'll send for yout if i need you"
I have tried the setstage and resetquest command, none of them worked, they just made it worse

How do i fix this?
And reloadong another safe is out of the question since i discovered this bug 5 game hrs ago, but thougt that if i just gave it some time it would sort it self out.

This can be very frustrating. I have also been having a lot of trouble with this mission the last day or so, despite previously completing it in several past play-throughs. I checked and double (and triple, quadruple etc) checked all was set up right, but the quest objectives would not move on. I swore lots.
What was weird was that the quest journal kept fluctuating between saying everything was built to saying there were things still to build - totally gliched and no amount of re-jigging would sort it out. Like I would move away (from Sanctuary, where I've set up the relay) and *eventually* mid-way through another side quest I would get an update about 'The Molecular Level'. I've been experiencing a lot of weirdness in general this playthough, I must say, lots of delays in stuff like settlers being assigned, missions being acknowledged as completed etc. I'm running an un-modded game as I still have some achievements I would like to get, but I am definitely patching next time to see if that helps.

An awful lot of the 'help' offered to people stuck on this quest amounts to 'well, you must be doing it wrong, you idiot' - which, when you know full well you have done everything right, is just not welcome.

In the end I resorted to console codes: setstage mq206 600 to place the holotape in my inventory, setstage mq206 1000 to reach the quest end-stage and teleport to the institute.

Playing about with it, I noticed that setstage 500 would result in my character being stuck to the spot with no central crosshairs, but reloading my prior save sorted that out.

wait a moment, if you side BOS you have to build the Relay on the Boston Airport just to have that secured.
Then Maxon will walk slowly towards it and only when he stands there you get the dialog (if not just go to him, click him in console, walk back and "moveto player") but remember Proctor Ingram has to be around too.

Ok that's useful to know, hopefully that will solve his problem. To clarify my post, I've done this with the Minutemen - but I have noticed lots of people having problems with this regardless of who they side with.
BTW I'm assuming that the only purpose for the workshop at the airport is to build the relay rather than a proper settlement?

Ding - 100 Points for the candiate .. there you cant plant food, water or a settlement beacon anyway ;)

And seems weird that happens with minute man, are preston and sturges around?

Yup! All elements are present - anyway, I'm happy now that I'm finally in the Institute. This is the first time I've really had problems with this quest (beyond my intital confusion re: wiring up the first time I played). Given the other weird glitches I have had throughout this play-through I guess it's part of a wider issue.

Don't suppose anyone ever figured out a fix for this glitch with Maxon which doesn't require the console for, ironically enough, console users, did they? Stuck on a 100+ hour hardcore run (so no old saves) with this bug.
