Frost Survival Tips?
Please no spoilers because from what i've gathered there is a story, but any tips for me? I usually take the overpass start as it's my personal favorite but it's a pain in the ass getting passed gouls n such with no guns/ammo. Also should I bother with the charisma skill tree?

mmm well charisma i usually use for 3 things.. settlements, higher companion health and carry (really only for survival modes), and drinking alcohol = no penalties and greater benefits. I think 8 charisma for that.

Survival. low carry, so higher companion abilities to keep them alive longer, fighting stronger, and carry more = great for survial modes. Alcohol = great for survival mode benefits. Settlement building = great. So to me, any survival mode needs charisma at some point. Now, you might not need it all right away, but those 3 benefits really nice.

But you need to factor in surviving other things. You don't really need settlements, companion carry or alcohol benefits right away, surviving enemies is the 1st priority, and surviving the elements (radiation, hunger, etc) is the 2nd. So while i can do a easy crafter/builder in very hard difficulty, i like a stealth sniper in survival to wipe out foes with ease while staying safe. You don't need the stealth part till later, just riflemen perks, etc are fine early on to snipe at 2x damage.

I personally always start with high strength due to lower carry, and you need to haul stuff. 6 strength for the strong back perks. You can do research in FROST to see how easy it is to get companions, you might just go solo with the Lone Wanderer perks with 3 charisma then build
charisma over time to get your settlement stuff/alcohol/and companion benefits.

Definitely will consider this as I keep everything at a four and usually set the charisma to 1 and intelligence to 6-7

also consider why you want intelligence at 6-7. Are you using science and chemist early on, thats what that higher intelligence is. Int 4 sure, for hacking. But are you actually useing the science and chemist perks. Getting idiot savant with luck is better for experience gain over time than higher intelligence. But like i said, 6-7 is fine if you actually are using the science and chemist perks.

I do consider Int 7 a must have in any game due to actually using science and always taking the chemist perks, but do you use those right away, or is 4 intelligence fine to start and you can build up later. For me, idiot savant is the first perk i always take so luck 5 is always on every character.

Usually idiot savant 1, gun nut 1 (for heavy machine gun turrets/stronger guns), and lockpick 1 are always my first 3.

I had the same feeling but it is useful to know some mechanics and how he allocates his stats.

Charisma seem the way to go with Frost. Set 8 charisma. As first perk take Cap Collector. Forgot sanity for the moment. Take all charisma outfits you can. Now Take the perk Party Boy to augment your charisma without getting alcohol disease. You must turn around 13/14 in charisma. Never take alcohol without this perk because taking the perk after being addicted do not remove the addiction. If you get addicted before the perk you must find an very rare addictol.

Now with cap collector, and your boosted charisma, you can buy Water filter at reduced price, around 90caps.

The advantage here, is 1 dirty water + 1 water filter = 1 purified water. You do not have to run like a cannibal after bottles for boiled water now. And you can buy food at low price. Save your money for shematics.

Remember, you have spent 8 in charima.

You also have to place 10 in perception, because perception augment your vats precision. And at level 10 you can invest in concentrated fire who offers + 10% precision on each hit. No one can escape to you now. You are the King of vats in Frost.

You also have placed 5 in chance to take idiot savant. Because upping xp is very slow and 1 point in idiot savant is like xp with 6-8 in intelligence and you can access the scrounger perk to get more ammo in containers. Without ammo, you are nothing in frost.

Now you started in good survival condition for Frost.

For the future, with level 10 in charisma (and required schematic) you can create a beacon in Sanctuary. Dont forget to use mod to have vanilla food plants for frost. Tips: 2 water pump in an empty settlement give you automatically between 5 - 8 purified water by day.

A user map for frost metro and sewers can also be downloaded at nexus to save you life.

Good luck survivor
